:D :D..don't you just love that hair style...and no, as soon as they were on their feet they took off down the paddock, it may take a couple of days for them to forgive me but it's amazing what a handful of Alpaca pellets can do, a mouth full of those munchies and all will be forgiven... :D

wow...that's really some thick stuff.  How many alpackas does it take to make a sweater?  (that is not a joke),

Now don't tell me you're also a weaver and that you have your own spinning wheel and you're going to spin the alpacka to knit the sweaters that your grandchidren wear!! Artist, nurse, educator, speaker, farmer....why not weaver?    It fits.

Do you blow glass?

I love you Jan.....

There is alot of money to be made in wool! I had a Samoyed and every summer I would have her shaved as NYC heat was too much. She would pounce out of the place with her ass in the air and  sashaying like a tramp on 42nd street during Fleet week!
Jan what do they eat? All I know is they are related to camels and maybe giraffes. They look like super models then babies- work that camera  lol

They do look so skinny when they are shaved! I was watching a show on TV where they shaved an alpaca. It looked really hard. You are a woman of many talents Jan!

Hi everyone

Well if you hadn't already guessed then let me tell you, I love my animals and I'm so glad you enjoy them too.

Teresa...I have 22 young chickens looking for a good home..just tell me where to ship them.. ;)

Rod..The local Country Womens spinning Associtation are bying the fleece from me..it sells for a good price, enough to pay for their treats and injections for the year..so I'm happy with that..and they have to get sheared once a year because the fleece becomes very heavy when wet..and also they can get heat exhaustion in summer and that can lead to health problems.

Queen and AC..I want you both to write a hundred lines after work "I will not talk about eating chickens in front of Jan again..or show horror photo of chickens on plates"... and report to me when you are finished.. :D

Javicho..I'm glad they brough back some good memories for you.

Robert..Check out the photo and see what I'v bought..one of the ladies from the CWA is more than willing to show me how to use it, but I will not be knitting anything, I haven't done that since the kids were toddlers... :D.

To everyone else thank you for sharing in my wonderful lifstyle..who would have thougt that Just 18 months ago I was a nursing sister in Aussie...quite a change, wouldn't you say... :D

Hugs

Hope they didn't wrestle with you too much to get them sheared....

My gosh, what have you done to those poor things?  They look like lawn ornaments now!   :D (Actually that's not true, but DF made me say that!  He's the bad one!)

Your life is such an amazing adventure, I can't tell you how much I love it when you bring your gifts to us.  Whether the paintings, the chickens (Lydia is a slut if you ask me--how many babies?), the goats, or the Alpacas.  All of it is just a treat!

Hi Jan
I go thru the same thing with my 7 white Eskimo doggies every Summer. I clip them down from their full Winter coat to 1/4 inch. Its not a fun task, but keeps them a lot cooler in the Summer and less fleas. But after the dog shearing ceremony, they just act embarrassed. Like they are naked or something. But soon they find they can run faster, jump higher and play harder with short hair. Some of the seven co operate, some fight it and one gets so mad I have to muzzle her so she wont bit me. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you...
After I'm all done I have a large garbage bag full of white dog hair. And everyone says they look like a white fox, or those baby white seals with the black eyes. Just thinking about it makes me tired. One dog would be ok, but seven in a row...whew!

Your kids are so cute. I don’t suppose they demand sleeping in bed with you, like mine do?   ;D
