hmmm.

Citizenship has nothing to do with SSDI.  If you work long enough and pay FICA taxes, you are eligible regardless of citizenship.

If you are a documented immigrant, you could even receive SSI benefits for disability.  SSI and SSDI are separate programs with different non-medical eligibility rules.  But non-US citizenship is not an absolute bar in either one.

that is really interesting because i had tried to apply for it several months ago and just got denied because they said that according to my green card.  i do not have the time yet  and they also said that unless i was a citizen  they would not be able to proccess my application.  i got approved by austin for it but when the interviewer from san antonio called me that is what she said.

That means that you don't haven't earned enough "quarters" yet.  A quarter is a 3-month period where you earn more than (about) $600.  You need 40 quarters to qualify for SSDI, less if you are under age 30.

SSI is probably what you were applying for, and eligibility for that depends on the date you entered the country.

If you haven't already, you should speak to an attorney at a local ASO.
