Weight loss / thoughts?
« on: March 02, 2014, 11:52:18 pm »
Its been a while since I have posted, but has been quite a ride these past few months... Always got good feedback from you all and value it a great deal. Dont have anyone to talk to about the condition other than wife.   My numbers have been doing really well seeming where it all started a few years back after diagnosis..   I have noticed that i have been loosing weight in arms and legs.. have been doing research and not sure what the hell is going on.. kinda got me scared a little bit... Weight is the same maybe a few pounds loss, but very noticeable in the arms and legs.. Doc says its not wasting cause the drugs im on ( Truvada/Novir/Prezista)  does not cause this...  So ?   has anyone experienced this? Should i be worried ? I feel ok and numbers look good, but tripping out after reading this article..  any and all feed back would be very appreciated.. THanks ALL

Wow, great cd4 increase from 4 to over 600....that's really good.

How old are you?  Have you lost fat or fat and muscle?  Any changes to diet or exercise?  Do you work out?

So your doctor says it's not lipo because prezista doesn't cause lipo..ok..did he have an answer as to what is causing the weight loss?  I'd be more sceptical.  I know prezista isn't supposed to cause lipo but if it was happening to me id be ditching the PI's (especially Norvir).  But that's probably an over reaction.

Hello,

You have had a great reaction to your drugs and report that on the whole you feel OK. You have done the sensible thing and lodged the observation with your Doctor. I have not even read your link that you are worried about because I learned long ago that the quickest way to feel ill was to read about illness.

Body change is a feature off aging ,HIV, Drugs and the interaction between all three which is off course where the art off medicine comes in.

Having found out your HIV status off course your mind is on the look out for nasty things , In a way its part off learning how to live with the diagnosis , but you have done all the right things .
If you find your self very dissatisfied with your bod how about the Gym ?
Take care and enjoy how well you are doing.
