Welcome to Do I Have HIV?

Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

Should I even worry about this?

I've been on this site before a few years ago, and I can't find my original thread now.  Anyhow, I have a recent sexual encounter I am worried about.  I had receptive anal sex with an anonymous partner.  Before we had sex, I did confirm with my partner that he didn't have any STI's (not that this meant much). 

My partner used a condom and the actual penetration lasted less than a few minutes.  He wasn't very hard to begin with and he didn't climax.  Anyhow, when he pulled out I noticed that the condom was covering only about two inches of his penis from the head (it kind of rolled up).  Is this incident something I need to test for particularly or should I just do my regular STI check up?

Beto, our rule is for uninfected members to keep all of their entries in the same thread. But because you have in the past written in Spanish language section and Off Topic I can't do that with your previous entries. In the future stick to this thread and keep your entries here. You are also not authorized to be responding to other members in their threads.

With regard to your latest concern, the important thing is that your partner was wearing a condom which covered the head of his penis and that he did not ejaculate. I don't see any cause for concern about transmission during that incident.

I don't see that testing is necessary for this specific event but it is good to know that since you are sexually active you are having regular STI checkups. Other diseases are much easier to acquire than HIV.

Thanks so much, Andy.  That's what I also thought.  But my OCD mind sometimes plays these whatif games.

Just an update: I've tested negative with the rapid test six weeks after my worrying incident.  I am currently waiting on the NAT Test results.  Thanx again.

That's a happy if unsurprising negative result. I don't see any need for further testing but doing that is up to you of course.

My NAT Test taken at 5 weeks post-incident came back negative.  I'm closing the books on this incident.   I appreciate all your time, Andy.

I had a negative HIV 1/2 antibody test at 85.5 days (12 weeks) post-incident.  :)  I take it that this is already conclusive and that there is no difference between a 12 and 13 week test.  Please correct me if I'm wrong.  Thanks.

85.5 days or 12 weeks is conclusive. I'm surprised that you of all people should have to ask such a question.

Perhaps it's time you reviewed the Welcome Thread?

The lessons say 3 months is 13 weeks.  Nonetheless, thanks for the reminder that I should just accept this result and move on (no ifs and buts).  :-)

As you know the AM Lessons reflect the view of the US CDC which counts calendar weeks slightly differently from the way they are reckoned in other countries. 13 weeks in the USA is the same as 12 weeks elsewhere for the purposes of HIV testing.

So be it 12 weeks or 13 weeks, your test results are valid  and conclusive. If you're having difficulties with your longstanding issues around HIV phobia I encourage you to seek the support of a mental health professional.

I don't have to tell you that the provision such support is outside the scope of AIDSmeds.
