I had protected vaginal & oral sex with a sex worker and received another unprotected hand job in a massage parlor in thailand during mid-august. I'm not sure if my condoms broke, I didn't test for holes afterwards. When I changed to a new condom during the session, some of her fluids may be in my hands and hence may have in contact with my penis shaft.

I have since very much regretted these actions and went for a test 4 weeks post-exposure. The result is negative, but the doctor warned me to come back in 3 months, cos according to him, 4 weeks is a window period there's a chance I may have contracted HIV based on my exposure.

I never went back cos I'm extremely afraid.

Since then, I had 2 weeks of sore throat and a lower back pain which lasts for 1 month. Is this seroconversion?

1) How effective is a condom (durex brand - thai manufactured) from preventing HIV transmission? I've read personal reports of people contracting HIV even with condom, right here in the "I just tested poz" forum section.

2) Subtype-E. This is what is giving me nightmares, constant worries over the last 3 months. How is the transmission of this subtype different from other subtypes?

I've moved your topic. If the condom had broken you would have known it because it becomes very clear what has happened. It's not about little itty bitty holes in the condom. The whole thing goes and it ends up looking like a hoop with latex fringe on the penis.

Your negative result is no surprise since you had protected intercourse. Condoms provide very effective protection against HIV transmission.

Nothing else you are reporting in your activities would have put you at risk. Whatever is causing your symptoms has nothing to do with HIV. If your symptoms persist you should discuss them with your doctor to diagnose the real cause.

There is no need for further testing unless you need the inevitable negative result just for your peace of mind.

This is NOT an HIV situation.

Ok, but what about subtype e hiv, cos its prevalent where I got my exposure

I've read its very easily transmissible heterosexually, is it possible that it can pass through condom or other means of body contact and infects me

You never did anything to put yourself at risk.
