« on: August 03, 2012, 01:46:49 pm »
hello guys
I started taking drugs early this year...Truvada,Norvir and Reyataz. i started to experience the side effects e.g increased in breast size from 36D-36 F, weight gain and pain on my back. My viral load was UD.
I stopped the meds then  switched to a new med Eviplera..i  had a few side effects the 1st wk;-headaches and tummy pain then few wks later energetic..but now i feel tired,nausea..
Is there someone here who's been taking the same meds

Hi lina76!

Im in the UK and also taking Eviplera.Im definetly not an expert re meds as  im a newbie .

I haven't taken any other HAART meds as  im so newly diagnosed.
I hear you on the fatigue side of things.(I made a post on that too....think its in Living With HIV thread here).
I keep having to go to bed early...and waking up during the night and early morning.....dodgy tummy/sore back and legs!!!!!

There are some good points......honest!!!!!!!!!I find that my nails and hair are growing lots and my skin is  better....no more sores on my scalp or hair falling out.

See every cloud has a silver lining!!!

I started writing a wee diary re symptoms ..lack of sleep etc so i can show it to my Consultant in September.

Im going to keep taking Eviplera as my  cd4 count has gone from 43 into the 336 range and viral load undetectable.(I have to remind myself of this on days when i feel crappy!)

All the best to you ....hope things settle down soon

Hi Britchick
How r u doing? I have realised this meds are too strong. I had an appoint recently with my Doc after i became sickly, weak as they thought my viral load would be low coz of the meds too. Doc was shocked abt the results that my viral load was not detected eventhough i was ill.
Right now i feel better but my legs are abit tired...i think this meds are good but they have on and off side effects. lets hope they gonna be off. I have to wait for my next appoint for my CD4 results.

So how are you feeling now? see ya lina76 ;)

Hi lina76!

Good to hear from you.I get you re the sore legs!Im also u/d.Im going to my clinic 5 Sept...so i've been keeping a wee diary re symptoms.

Since my last post to you...I was given another wk of sleeping tabs.... still waking around 5 am most days,  really , really tired, sore back and legs, cramp in left leg... no sickness or diarrh.
I know it could be much worse...hopefully a wee chat with my Specialist will throw up some suggestions....and  I can let you know what happens!
I cant take anti inflammatories so just using paracetemol! Here's the funny thing....my feet dont hurt anymore......so thats a bonus!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe you could call the clinic and get your cd4 results quicker....I phoned them and got the results over the phone while  I was querying some side effects!

I still want to give Eviplera time.....im going to keep trying.
Cheers

thanks brit,
Happy to hear from you. I used to have sore feet be4 starting my meds, even putting on closed shoes was a big problem for me to walk. i think its bcoz of the high viral load and after starting the meds the pain left within a short time. i didn't have lack of sleep..i hope u r not stressed up abt your diagnosis.

I love this meds abt my skin is very soft, hair and nails growth but the bad side of it is the side effects which come and go. lets have hope that this side effects will come off and move on. I think my CD4 is great as the last one i had was 435 but not sure when they'll take my bloods for it again.

i'll continue taking eviplera coz i'm scared switching to another one then experience more side effects..i can't bare anymore. i'll update you too. have a lovely wk :)lina

Hi lina76!

How are you doing?I said I would let you know what happened re my appt with my Consultant on 5 th Sept.

I took my diary/journal  with me!!!!!My Consultant is a very patient man!I explained re all the side effects  im having with Eviplera(oops just had a typo error and typed then deleted Evilplera LOL !!!!!!) that  I told you.My labs were CD4 count of 383 in April and then 336 in June and  vl  U/d...so will let you know when  I get results re Sept labs..next visit last week in November.

Im on a 14 day course of sleeping tablets(zopiclone)  and he is going to up the level of fluoxetine as well as keeping co-trixamole(septrin)to prevent  PCP reoccurring
..also fluconazole....and paracetemol........im like a walking disaster!
Im still waking up in the night and 5 pm......I seemed to crash and burn out about 2 wks ago.....just think I was weepy,  over tired and oversensitive!!!!!

The Consultant is going to keep an eye on me re the pain as I was diagnosed with fybromyalgia before  AIDS so....it could be both causing the pain!

I was going to pm you privately...but  by posting it might encourage other people taking Eviplera to chime in.

Please let me know how you are

Cheers

I'm sorry to hear that...that u are  still feeling unwell. I was told that eviplera is too strong but sadly it's side effects. Just realised that the good side of ,it works well with the viral load and cd4 and you become energetic after the sideeffects. Right now i feel great and strong. My viral load is not detectable ...just gonna wait for the CD4. i have got a Doc appointment this wk..i'll explain as well the side effects i had be4, as they have already dismissed at the moment. i will have to ask the doc to do my bloods to check my liver and the kidneys function.

You'll feel much better and stronger later on..trust me.. drink warm water after you wake up in the morning be4 breakfast then have a normal breakfast and eat well especially when you are taking eviplera..i'll be glad to chat more.
