Speaking of Mesomorphs...
« on: April 07, 2011, 02:44:54 pm »
Don't you love it when the skinny young star seems to suddenly become a man and a hunk?  How do they do that?  Is it just training and diet or do they take hormones, to get the Hollywood A List hunkiness that seems to be required?  Is it just some guys get like that in their prime?

I remember when Matt Dillon suddenly became a huge man. Will Smith. Ryan Reynolds. Ben Affleck.  All skinny then - boom - at 30 or so suddenly hunky.

Brad Pitt was a hot cut skinny young runt, and to my eyes over the years, he never bulked up permanently, just a little bit to "man out" and for certain roles.

I'm watching the Mildred Pierce remake, and Guy Pearce is playing younger and he's still skinny as ever.

Wonder if Robert Pattinson will bulk up.

Last year there was lots of evidence that Zac Effon wanted to bulk up, but it seems he just ended up chubby looking in the face, at least.  His face is still too young and pretty to get hunky.

I was thinking about this cause there are pics today of the new bulky Ryan Gosling - the transition seems complete!  Jeezuz

http://socialitelife.com/ryan-gosling-shirtless-and-fine-in-crazy-stupid-love-photos-04-2011

I was also thinking about this cause I remember in my teens I thought I'd get a man's body in my 20's - just a right of age.  Then In my twenties I got even thinner, but sometimes cut. So I figured in my late 30's. But I was a beanpole until 45, and now in 3 years, suddenly chubby and just an old man! WTF happened?

My new ID doc told me its just not possible to stay like this. He said my HIV is less an issue than growing old as an unfit person.  So its either back to skinny, or a later in life transformation to bulk?

Anyone else think of these things?

Naw, no, not really.  As a middle aged man I'm really not interested in body development of guys in their teens and twenties.  I've always been interested in guys around my age.

Never heard of Ryan Gosling.

I have always been thin. I started weight training when I was 19 after taking a required physical education course my freshman year at NC State. I wasn't able to really put on some size until I was 30.

I wish it were so pretty. More like a flabby aging ectomorph.

Body type hasnt been something I looked for especially in a partner since my 20's.  It was two topics, really.

One was how I wondered at that transformation that can happen after 30, like Gymrat reported as well.

The other was the ID telling me I shouldn't stay unfit so do I just get skinny again, cause it seems my nature?

Was kinda just marking the passage of time. That 30's bulk never happened to me.

I still wouldn't bang him. Still too young, and every time I see that hair, I think of Liza Minelli. Talk about a buzzkill.

They still use "chicken-hawk" as well.

That made me think about terms and such.  I know I am getting old when reference to Brad Pitt is made as a HOM aka 'hot older man' (see attached #7)

sorry for the temporary hijack mecchy!

Have to agree with you on the tick tock tick tock.
I wonder if Angelina sees Brad as her hot HOM!
You all know HOM is also a brand of underwear - pretty popular with hot twinkies around these parts.

Thank you for making my run to the gym today worth while. Wow! I am a 9!

I bulked out in my early thirties - probably because I became a commercial fishermanbitch and really started using my muscles. I couldn't believe how well defined my deltoids, biceps, triceps, forearm muscles, trapezius, pecs, gluts - you name it - became. I was built like the proverbial brick shit-house. I had a six-pack too, but unfortunately it wasn't as obvious as the rest of my muscles due to a bit of a beer-belly. Work hard, play hard is the fishermanbitch's motto.

When I did the treatment for hep C and lost a lot of weight (went down to 105lbs) I lost all of it - especially my ass. I've gained weight since, but never got the muscle definition back because I no longer do manual labour. Nowadays I mostly sit on my ass (at least I have one again!) herding cats on the internet. I miss my muscles! I still have decent biceps though. They're supposed to be building a gym in my town and I'll be joining when it's built.
