Yep, that's Kaletra.  It dies down in about a month.  Until then, try metamucil.  It'll absorb the water your intestines are expelling.

Jeromy-

Told ya, sugar!  Miss K is not kind at first, and it kinda progresses from just a little ick to a lot of ugh over the first week.  It will settle in time, though.  After that, it's cake.

Speaking of cake...here's a BIG TIP:  If you think that sexy figure can withstand it, eat ya some heavy food for awhile.  The stomach ache might make you think you can't, but you can- and will feel infinitely better for it.  And I mean cheeseburgers and BIG milkshakes.

It helps.  For real.

If you're looking for bad food (lite), do a rice crispy bar.  I swear by it.  It gets rid of the Kaletra icky.  I just wish someone would take my word for it  ;)

Belly problems are horrible...

Ginger ale, and hard pretzels help me. Acupressure points help also- about one inch right and left of your belly button, and rubbing your belly in a counter clock wise circle.

Immodium not working...moved to limotil! I am not entirely convinced of the cheeseburgers either...but willing to try anything at this point!

Sorry to say Jeromy this but in the 3 years I was on Kaletra a normal bowel movement happened about once every full moon. I hope your system is able to adapt to it.

OK- I'm gonna clarify a bit:  The idea is to keep yourself full.  At least it was for me.  Mind you, this was for the old wretched formula that I started on.  Things like peanut butter also worked extremely well.  Basically, keep your tummy full with food- and I found the best food to be stuff like milkshakes and, yes, food that had a bit of a grease factor.  I think the milk and the oils helped to coat my stomach some.  However it worked, it kept the nausea at bay.  It really doesn't have to be cheesburgers or chicken wings- just some substance food with some heft to it.  But I would be lying if I said that burgers and wings didn't work like gangbusters for me...they did.

And yes, I felt as full as a tick about to fall off the dog, but it was better than feeling sick to my stomach.

I have to agree with Thunter on this one. Nothing seemed to stop my diarrhoea except eating lots of the foods he mentioned and metamucil.
All the other things worked for a day or two but overtime the squirts always won out.

Now that the squirts have settled down after 9 months, I've re-adjusted my diet back to a healthy one and I spend days in the gym, running in the park and swimming at the pool to try and lose the pounds I put on. Have lost 2.5 kilos in the last 5 weeks.
It's summer time and and beach weather - the tummy must go before I get rolled back into the water by some well intentioned, but misguided, greenie.

Maybe your next movie Jeromy, you will have to play a bear. Bears are hot too  ;D

i-Base page on Diarrhoea

The soluble fibre tip is a good un:

"Eat more soluble fibre. This is particularly helpful when watery stools are a problem as they help to absorb the excess water and bulk the stool. Soluble fibre can be found in white rice, pasta. Ispaghula (psyllium) husk (i.e Fybogel or Isogel)  . . . Studies on oatbran tablets taken by people with diarrhoea using protease inhibitors were successful and work on the same principle. The dose was 2–3 oatbran tablets before meals or after each protease inhibitor dose."

If it don't get better get yr doc to jab you with some slow release morphine sulphate.

Hay Jeromy, I'm on the old style "football" K and it took me about two months to play around with the diet...  Ive heard the new version is better...  Hope you figure it out cuz they are switching me during X-mas week to what you are on..   ;)

Hope you find the "MIX!"

I did the new version also. I felt pretty bad for a couple of weeks and I think the diarrhea got a little better after 4 weeks. unfortunately K failed for me in the 6th month. i never believe any of this less sides claims.
I live on Imodium. I have found you have to cut certain things out of your diet for awhile and then when things get better you can start back up. I love coffee, but have to stop drinking it every few months for a week or so.
I couldn't eat chocolate or cereals on K.

Eric-

You poor thing!  Those old K's are a total drag.  You'll love the new formula if you've managed the old all this time.  I can down the new ones with just a sip of water.  That would never have happened with the old ones.  I think that only applies though if you've built up a cast-iron stomach from the old ones.  Poor little Jeromy is having fits.  Congratulations on getting the new ones next month.  Merry Christmas to you, indeed.

Jeromy,

Sorry the hersheys are getting you down. Since I have no experience with Kaletra, I can only say I hope it improves soon.

Just remember, keep your chin up.

Think I'll stick to AZT and Crixivan with an Epivir chaser.
