HIV Risk from Condom Sex with Sex Worker
« on: October 09, 2023, 11:03:39 pm »
Hi,

A day ago I engaged in sexual activities with a sex worker at a massage spa. Although I only asked for a handjob there were times when she would either lick my testacles or my penis, but only briefly. I didn’t cum in her mouth and she didn’t directly suck me off. I asked afterward if she gets tested and she said yes and also that she’s on Prep. I have a history of health anxiety and I’m worried I’m might contract HIV. I already when to my GP today and she recommended against Pep as the risk is so low. Should I worried about having HIV or is my exposure nonexistent?

What you posted here isn't a low HIV risk. It's no HIV risk to you whatsoever, none!

Move on with your life.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Kind regards

Jim

Hi,

Today I had sex with a massage parlor sex worker. We used a condom and I last for about 2 minutes. I didn't ejaculate in her and the condom didn't break. Should I be worried about contracting HIV? Should I consider PEP? Im know my risk is zero and Im overreacting but I could use a second opinion.

HIV can't be transmitted through an intact latex, polyisoprene or polyurethane condom. Unless a condom obviously fails during intercourse, there is no reason to be stressing about HIV or testing for HIV outside the standard yearly HIV screening.

In short: You had no HIV risk from the concerned encounter, move on with your life.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV and get vaccinated against HPV, Hepatitis A & B.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.
