Hi, yesterday I had an open cut on my thumb (I bite my nails) it was done minutes earlier, and came into contact with another person of which I don’t know their status and because it was a wrestling event (I was a spectator) but since I had a small cut that was open as it had happened a few minutes earlier, and was touched by a wrestler, and in case the person had a cut or wound on his hand also would their be a risk of being infected, I’m really worried, thank you for your answers.

Even if because it was wrestling that person could have had a cut and his hands came in contact with mine? Or is my cut not suitable for transmission?

HIV is just infectious not contagious as you seem to fear. It's very difficult to transmit & limited requiring very specific biological conditions/environment. This is so much so, that nobody has been infected during day to day contact regardless of scrapes, cuts, bumps etc.

All in all, there are 4 conditions that must be met simultaneously for even the theoretical transmission of HIV and, nothing you mentioned would do that.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim
