Welcome to Do I Have HIV?

Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

Help a nervous wreck!!

Back in August/September 08, I met this guy and we fooled around. We did not participate in anal sex. We mostly jacked off and we licked each other's penises. I took great care not to tongue his urethra but apparently, I was careless because I tasted a tiny bit of his pre-cum on my tongue. It was such a weird feeling but I felt like my body just shut down from head to toe. I guess it was the shock that I had pre-cum on my tongue.

It was later that I found out he was hiv+.

Since then, a month later, I broke out in a fever/chills in one night. I was fine the day before and the day after.

Today, I have a headache, achy joints, fever/chills, and post-nasal drip that is giving me a severe sore throat for 2 days now. I haven't vomited, had diarrhea nor rash. Could this be the classical symptoms of hiv?? Could I have contracted hiv from his precum?

I'm a nervous wreck!!

Your saliva contains over a dozen elements which very effectively prevent the transmission of viable HIV. As far as I am concerned you are worrying needlessly.

Nothing you are reporting symptomatically is in any way HIV specific. If they persist you should discuss your symptoms with your doctor.

Although I don't see any need for testing in relation to this incident specifically, if you are sexually active it is a good idea to regularly have a full STD panel done. That means at least annually.

There's no need for HIV testing in relation to this specific incident.

Chill out and get on with your life.
