Jaser adopts a Giant Rat.
« on: June 16, 2007, 05:08:15 pm »
Lately I've suffered the unfotrunate passing of two of my rats - two males named Icarus and Pan. I've also lost my hamster, The Buddha. All in two weeks. It's sucked incredibly.

However, I traced their death back to the pet store where I got them where apparently tons of animals are dying. They lost like 15 hamsters in like a week, needless to say I'm not getting animals from them anymore. However, I was at a mall in Jersey and I saw this fucking ENORMOUS MONSTER of a rat in a little 10 gallon tank with another FUCKING HUGE rat. He's a little less than a year old, and he's absolutely sweet as hell and charming, but not properly socalized and therefore kind of skittish and unsure of people. He's warming up to me though.

Thought I'd share pictures with you guys so you can see the sheer enormity of this rat. xD. I weighed him at 2lbs, 19 inches long.

He's a gentle giant though.

His name's Johann Sebastian Bach (or just Bach).

Ratty!

He's a veritable monster Baby-Boi. And so well endowed. Matty the Damned never thought he would feel jealous of a rodent.

Mouse, that thing is as big as a New York sewer rat. If that gets loose it will eat through 2"x4".  ;)

That's what I was thinking.  It's as big as some of the rats that live down at the ports in town.  I saw a possum out in the yard the other night (being totally ignored by our cats) that wasn't as big as that rat.  Of course, the river rats and the possum don't look nearly as nice as that one and definitely aren't as clean.

Thought you guys might want an update on Bach. xD.

He's doing great.

He's still a little skittish but he's warmed up to me and is starting to be more trustful of other people (ie not squealing and trying to jump into my arms when someone else is holding him. This is not a good thing.)
