rough nite
« on: December 09, 2006, 01:55:30 am »
Nothing specific has happened, but I'm having a rough time tonite, emotionally. So me and Reba had a little pity party on my living room floor (of course , she decided to hang out in the cd player). I'd been on the verge of tears all evening, and I needed a push to get them flowing. So I dug out her For My Broken Heart CD, and popped it in. It's always the last song that gets me. It was so fitting when my 1st lover died, it's as if I could sing it to him, if I could. Especially the part about him being the treasure in my hand. I foolishly believed that he would always be there, but then there came a day when I turned my head........

I looked it up on Youtube, and I'd never seen this video before. They apparantly decided to make it a bit lighter than what the song was meant for. Not that sick children is a light subject. Reba always traveled in her own jet so she could be home with her son every night after her shows, no matter where she was. She recorded this song after her band members died when their plane crashed.

I am with you in that same space tonight.  Ah, yes...Miss Reba.  We've hung out on many nights like this.  And some of magic nights as well.  Saw her several times.  Even got Linda Davis' autograph at one of her shows.  But I can't lay claim to having touched her hair.  I bow to you.

Here.  This.  For you.  I would usually place in the lyrics thread, but this one goes directly to you.  For the both of us, really...here where we both find ourselves tonight.  Scoot over a bit.  Let me join you.

From Jane Siberry, Bound By The Beauty

The Valley

I live in the hills
You live in the valleys
And all that you know are those blackbirds

You rise every morning
Wondering what in the world will the world bring today
Will it bring you joy or will it take it away?
And every step you take is guided by
The love of the light on the land and the blackbird's cry

You will walk in good company

The valley is dark
The burgeoning holding
The stillness obscured by their judging

You walk through the shadows
Uncertain and surely hurting
Deserted by the blackbirds and the staccato of the staff
And though you trust the light towards which you wend your way
Sometimes you feel all that you wanted has been taken away

You will walk in good company

I love the best of you
You love the best of me
Though it is not always easy
Lovely? Lonely?

We will walk in good company

The shepherd upright and flowing
You see...

AIDS isn't for sissies.

Tim,

From day one, I knew there was something very special about you. In just a few lines, you made me laugh, and you made me cry. You understood me tonite, and made me feel warm, and cared for.

I am walking in good company.

Thank You.

Love,
Paul

Why did I have to open that link to Reba's video of "If I Had Only Known"? I had a rough day at work and before going to sleep decided to write to Paul. Just before turning off the PC I saw this post and decided to take a peek at its content. I saw Tim was also feeling low and said to myself what is going on here. Anyways, they both mentioned Reba, and though I'm not really exposed to her music because I though it was all jolly and squaredancing and too country for me, I was shocked by the heartbreaking feeling as she sung. I heard each word well sung and the song was like a puzzle being put together of my thoughts each time each of my 3 past partners passed away to aids. I  was crying by the second minute of her song. She sings beautiful and I had never taken a moment to listen to her. Now I'm going to sleep feeling depressed and remembering my last partner who I grieved the most for. That was a real heartache. Paul and Tim, I'm glad you are feeling better, but now I'm feeling sad and just wishing that (Alvin) my deceased partner had never died...

Thanks Tigger and Eldon,

Today was so incredibly opposite Friday nite for me. I felt like a new man. ( I can never repay Tim) Got a good amount of work done around the house, and later got the fag hag to go with me to NYC to see the tree in Rockefeller Center. We walked around, then went to Rose's Turn (and the bar 2 doors down from it) and had a great time listening to the piano guy and all the singers. Just getting home and heading to bed!

See, a day can make a big difference sometimes.
