Hi!
Just arrived back to Scandinavia after 5 weeks vacation in the Canaries. It all happened on Dec 27th when I was spending a night in a gay complex where a friend works in a bar as a bartender. This place has lots of bars and also darkrooms although I never visit them. I left my friends bar at 4am after a couple of drinks and left for the taxistand and everything went blank I have a complete black-out till 7.30 when I woke up in my hotel room.
Someone must have spiked my drink that night because my rectum was all inflamed and really hurting terribly. The next day I started getting blisters all over and went to a doctor who treated me for gonorrhae, without testing first. That didnt help, still blisters and ache, which subsided about 3 weeks after getting gradually better.
About 12 days after the incident I started feeling an extreme fatigue, vertigo and nausea. I slept all through the sunny days and managed to eat one evening meal every night. - By the way 4 days after it happened on new years eve I got episodic diahrrea for 2 days which drained me totally and they gave me glucose drip - and sent me back to my hotel. I never experienced any fever, swollen lymphglands or exanthema.
My tounge was aphtous and atrofic. Then on top of it I contracted the local flu which everyone had - really bad with cough and cold so I had to postpone my journey home for a week, a was really tired.
I had two 4th generation elisa with p24 (duo) after 15 and 22 days after the incident both negative.
Right now I am sitting at home terrified with -15 degrees outside and noone to talk to. Should I go tomorrow for another duo (28 days has passed now). I still have a tough cold and cough and I believe some difficulty swollowing, but I could be imagining that. I should add that my lympocytes was marginally lowered during my diarrhea 15% normal 17-37%

Im sorry to hear about your situation. Testing at 6 weeks is a GREAT indicator and 13 weeks will be conclusive. The good news is it sounds like your symptoms came on way to quick to be ARS related.

34, those initial negative results are encouraging.
A negative result on a PCR done at 28 days or more would be the next-best-thing to an all clear. It's a highly sensitive test and the problem is sometimes a false positive, but not a false negative.
Assuming you test negative it would be a good idea to re-test at 13 weeks just to confirm the earlier negative.
By the way, none of your symptoms are in any way HIV specific, but then neither the presence nor the absence of symptoms is ever a reliable way to know about HIV status.

Hi again!
I have now had neg. combotests done 15, 22, 28 and 54 days after my incident. Day 56 I had stomach flu with rapid outbreak of herpes in my face, looked quite horrible and fever 39,6 degr. My ID doctor says there is no way I could have passed the ealier four tests without any trace of HIV.
I am under investigation for inflammatory bowel disease and that is why my ID says my immune defence is low.
Do you agree with my doctorīs assesment I should drop the thing with HIV and consider myself NEG?

Your doctor is correct in saying that it's unlikely you would go on to test positive after the negative results you have had so far. However, you would be prudent to test one more time at the end of the three month window period for a conclusive result. I fully expect you to continue testing negative - but hiv is nothing to guess or be complacent about. Get your conclusive test done at the appropriate time and move on with your life.

You are conclusively hiv negative. Make sure you stay that way by using condoms for intercourse, correctly and consistently.
Keep an eye on your drinks in future so you don't get spiked again. ;)

Hi!
Five days ago I visited a gay sauna, and as I was standing in a dark corner masturbating, a guy rushed passed me and he bumped into me so that his penis touched mine. I could feel that a moist fluid hit my mucus membrane and possibly my urethra. He had probably just ejaculated. I countinued masturbating and after ejaculation i washed myself thouroghly about 10 minutes later. I am very worried the guy could have infected me and I feel stupid I did not have a shower right away. Maybe I made his semen enter my urethra or penetrate a breakage in my penile mucus membrane.
Today I feel a slightly sore throat and have 4-5 red millimeter round red spots on my hands, looking like swollen blood vessels. Maybe just from excessive suntanning as we have had a heat-wave.
Could I have been infected by him bumping into me like this for just a second?
I feel really terrified, I have difficulty sleeping and would very much appreciate an answer.

You were standing in a SAUNA and you felt something moist? No, really? In a suana? Where everything is dripping wet and steamy and people sweat? How unusual.
Seriously, even if this guy who brushed past was hiv positive and even if some of his fresh ejaculate ended up on your penis while you were masturbating, it was NOT a risk for hiv infection.
Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus that is primarily transmitted INSIDE the human body, as in unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse. It does not remain able to be transmitted when it finds itself outside in the environment, even if that environment is a moist, steamy suana.
Please re-visit our Welcome Thread (http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=220.0) and re-read the Transmission Lesson. You should have read this last spring. Make sure you've looked at the three condom and lube links in my signature line while you're at it.
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!
