colonoscopy
« on: April 04, 2011, 08:23:21 pm »
I had my first colonoscopy 5 years and they found benign cysts.  I was a bit young but knew something was going on down there.  I had another one today and they found 6 six cysts which of course we have to wait for the pathology.

I was originally told I was too young to start having these tests but the doctor now says I need to start having them more often because of my history and HIV status.  I'm just hoping he's a little less informed about HIV concerning this procedure.  I didn't think HIV pos people had any greatesr risks than the general public.

I was always more concerned because of family history and my paternal grandfather died of colon cancer.  I know I could take the time research the web but I always prefer the experiences approach to data gathering.

Thanks!
Greg

Greg, are you sure they told you that? my GI-Doctor says that a colonoscopy every 5 years  in the norm if your over 50, I don't think HIV/AIDS makes any difference? however it's a good thing that they got them
six cysts removed, I only had one, that was benign , I'm sure yours will come back OK  ;)

FUCK, I'm a little jealous, @ least you got some good drugs, I like them way too much  ;D if they're is gonna put 6ft. of hose & air into my ass & bowels, I DON'T wanna be awake for that, I know that some people might GET-OFF on that, but I'm not one of them  ???  however I do like them DRUGS they give you  :D :D :D

My first one was in my 30's and I'm now only 44 which is typically too young to have them every 5 years.  This doctor is recommending that I have them every 3 years from here on.

Now I'm concerned that I haven't heard back about the test results.  I should have heard something by now.
