Beware: Clever Gift Card Scam...
« on: December 20, 2006, 09:55:52 am »
Ill try to find  a link to the CNN story but they just  aired a story about a clever scam going around :

a scammer will take a gift card from a rack and peel the cardboard holder back far enough to read the number and security code on the card, then replace the card in the rack .. someone later comes along and Buys / Activates the card..  after a couple of days the Scammer calls the service number an enters the card #  to see what the balance is, then proceeds to use the card # for internet purchases, depleting it before the actual card holder ever even receives the card .  Cute.

They say that you should get the card from customer service instead of a rack, and closely examine the holder to see if its been bent or tampered with or possibly use cards that cant be used on the internet..

Im sure this will soon be remedied with tamper proof packaging, but untill then some people are in for a nasty disapointment when they go to use their gift card..  :-[  just a little public service anouncement for the holidays..

You mean BUMP... dont you?

LIFE is not a race to the grave with the intention of arriving safely
in a pretty and well-preserved body, but, rather to skid in broadside,
thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming--WOW! WHAT A
RIDE!!!
