Truvada + Sustiva = Why can't take grapefruit?

I have been taking truvada and sustiva for almost 1 month. I realised that the label of my meds pack stated do not take grapefruit.

Here are some questions maybe you guys can help explain?

1) why you can't take grapefruits?
2) do I omit it totally in my life?
3) is there any side effect if I accidentally had some eg, in juices etc.

Theoretically, grapefruit may inhibit the way your body uses up efavirenz (Sustiva) leading to more of it being present for longer. In practice the odd glass of grapefruit juice or bowl of fruit isn't going to do diddly squit to full dose efavirenz in terms of it working.  It might increase side effects on the day you eat/drink the grapefruit perhaps, but perhaps not.

The University of Liverpool Department of Pharmacology drug interaction website lists no interactions between efavirenz and grapefruit.
