Sanitex, I detect a degree of desperation in your post.  So, please, take a breath.

The liver is a pretty tough little organ.  It can take a lot of abuse; trust, I know.  I wouldn't be concerned about that right now.

About exercise, I can't say if it lowers the CD4s or not.  I don't exercise (because I smoke), but I can only imagine it would help a situation.  Maybe someone with more experience in these things can chime in.

I can only talk about myself in this matter, because I haven't done any research into the matter.

If I don't get at least 90 mins of moderate exercise daily, the fatigue sets in. I do weightlifting, yoga , modern dance or afro-cuban dance class, and long extended walks with my puppies mostly every day or every other day. I do know that when my cd4's have been low, it takes me awhile to recover, so I limit the kind of activity I do; gently yoga, walking on the treadmill, lighter weights, etc.  I have been poz a very long time, so i have learned to listen to my body and act upon that. If it says rest, I rest......if it says go lift 400 pounds,  I .... well I laugh (because i can't )  ;D

good luck with this

A couple of thoughts here...

1.  This question is misplaced among the forums.  LTSes may have more longevity with the virus, but we may not have all of the right experience with these conditions.

2.  Don't let a few billion killer viruses running through your body keep you from getting physical acticity.  Unless a particular activity or any mobility poses an imminent risk to your health, it's always better to move than sit on your butt.  When I was first made to start dealing with HIV almost ten years ago, I had a viral load of 680K and CD4s of 231...amazing how I can remember those numbers like my birth date, social security number, and credit cards!  Anyway, my hepatologist told me to walk around my neighborhood for 10 minutes a day, then 15, then 30, even in ths heat and humiditity of a DC summer.

What I have found in the years since is that it's much easier to stop a large object in motion that it is to get it moving at all.  Every day now I do at least one of the following:  walk at least two miles, lift weights for at least 30 minutes...more if there are hot guys gawking at my leg strength  ;D, or do 45 minutes of yoga or tai qi.  Even after having a spinal tap yesterday morning, I did 30 minutes of yoga beforehand and got in a two-mile walk late in the afternoon.

David

If you are upset enough to ask don't worry about where you post your questions. The mods will move it to the appropriate forum if they think it belongs somewhere else. You haven't been around long yet and you'll soon learn the ropes.

As for your question it appears your doctor has given you the OK concerning excercise so I say go for it. Many of us long term survivors continue to work and exercise and seem to benefit not only physically but emotionally.

Once again that was a good question.

Getting exercise, eating healthy, getting plenty of rest, avoiding stress and not doing illicit drugs.

All these things will make pretty much anyone healthier or at the very least feel good.

Sanitex, I've been on meds since the very early 90's, when AZT was the only thing available.

You're not going to get hepatitis from HIV therapy.  And I wouldn't mess around with the meds by stopping them for two or three days and then restarting them. That's how resistance begins.  You don't want that, as that limits your choices as to what HIV meds you can take.  Oh, and your liver is on your right side.

The only things on your left side is your stomach, spleen, intestines and bladder. In that order from top to bottom.

Wendy is spot on Sanitex. If your liver was giving you trouble you'd feel the pain (if any) on the upper right hand side of your tummy, just under your ribs.

Don't know what you mean here, Sanitex, but maybe you have a problem understanding English as well as speaking it.  Peter just asked you to not start two different threads about the same topic.  Has nothing to do with siblings.  In other words, don't put the same thing in two different 'new topics.'

Sanitex,
I want to say that it's a good thing that you have found this place on the internet. Don't worry too much about your english, for the most part we can figure out what you are saying, though sometimes it gets a bit difficult. I will try to make my response to you easy for you to understan as well. I have been HIV+ for twenty years now and still am in good health for the most part. I take it in your first post that you also have hepatitis, is this correct? I have had Hepatitis B for as long as I have had HIV. I am having trouble with my liver at this point, but it is not from the meds, it from having the HepB for 20 years, and the damage done to it over that time. Yes I do get pains from time to time, but like someone else pointed out, it is on the right side of my body, and higher up, underneath the ribs. It is not constant, and it does not keep me from working, but it in not fun either. I would get as much information from books as I could, especially if you can get books written in your native language. That would help you to understand things more easily, not having to interpret information in a secondary language. Also get books/pamphlets about HIV as well. Arming yourself with as much information as you can get will help you in the long run.
As far as exercize goes, the more you can get, the healthier you will be. This is true for most everybody, HIV+ or not. I take my four dogs for a 2 to 3 mile walk every day before leaving for work. I work a physically demanding job in which I walk between 3 to 5 miles a day. When I get home from work I rest for awhile, then try to work around the house, and playing with the dogs. Last year when I went to see a doctor that specializes in the Liver, he was shocked at how good a condition I was in. He thought that I would be in bad shape because of the way things look on my medical charts. He asked how I managed to be so healthy in spite of everything. I told him what my average day is like, and he feels that the exercise is a major part of that reason. The trick is to not overdo it. I hope that I have been able to help you out in some way. Good luck to you, and keep us informed of how you are doing. Be Well...
