AMG....Helping Each Other.
« on: February 21, 2008, 06:48:15 pm »
The AMG (Aidsmeds Gathering) is celebrating its fourth Gathering this year in Mexico City Aug, 7-12.  The Gathering is just that, an opportunity for all of us here at Aidsmeds to come together and experience the feelings and emotions that we share we each other in the cyber world.  It is about who we are as a group and our experiences despite our differences and strong personalities.

If you would like to attend the Gathering in Mexico City but cannot afford to, please PM the Grants Committee with you real name and address.  We will accept all requests for financial aid, in the order they are received.  Other than the order they are received in, there is really no criteria to determine eligibility.  Please, we want to help you, but we cannot unless you let us know.

Any requests for assistance are kept private and confidential.

Now, these grants are possible only through the generosity of all of our members. Last year, the Grant Committee received over $5,000.00 cash  donations to help provide airfare and hotel assistance to our fellow members.  We also had  non-cash donations (free room sharing courtesy of other members) valued at over $800.00

Once again, we need to replenish our coffers so we can provide for others to attend the Gathering.  We  have a  cash balance of $210.00.  We are asking our members to step up and help those who otherwise could not afford to go. If you could contribute $10-20 or more, then out goal of helping each  other will be fulfilled.  Whatever amount is affordable, when combined with the giving of everyone else, will be used to help as many members as possible.

Also, if any member who is attending is willing to share his/her room with someone else, please let us know.   You can share your room with a grantee and only pay you half of the room.  If you wish to share your room and not charge the person you would share it with, that would be even better.

So, if you can do so, please PM the Grants Committee and open up your wallets (or purses.)

And, again, if you would like to attend the Gathering in Mexico City please PM the Grants Committee with you real name and address. Any requests for assistance are kept private and confidential.

thank you

It's a good news day.  We have a very generous benefactor, one of our very own regulars, who has kindly donated $1500.00 for our AMG this summer in AMG.  How cool is that?  But there is a catch.....He wants all of us to pool our resources together and match his contribution so our AMG budget will balloon up to $3,000~~!!~~

Yippee. Talking about doing a happy dance ~~~~.

If you do the math, you realize it's really not that much.  One hundred of us could each donate a big whopping $15.00 and AMG would be made in the shade.  For you continental types who deal in EUROS, that's only like 10 Euros.  Or 16.00AUS for those down under.

         SO the drive is on

This is an opportunity too good to pass up and will   allow more of us to attend AMG...something many of us could afford otherwise.

One of us has delivered the challange.  Let's stand up and show him just how it brings out the best in all of us.

Please send a PM to the Grants Committee, telling us the amount you wish to pledge.  We will send you all the details.

Hope to hear from all of you soon  !! ~~~  ~~  !!

Sincerely,

The Grants Committee

I just sent in my donation.  I'm not rich and money's always tight but I have more than some people.  I know how many people benefited from this program last year, so I'm glad to help.

A few years ago I couldn't afford my meds and was having trouble getting assistance and someone helped me.  Now I'm a little better off financially and want to do something for someone else.

I'm wanting everyone to give something to this great cause.  Even $10 or $20 by each of us would make a huge difference in some of our brothers' and sisters' lives.

The check issued to this year's AMG Grants Committee rolled over from last year's remaining balance ($210.85) was delivered and has now cleared.  There are no more outstanding transactions from last year's Grants Committee.  Details of last year's account can be viewed on  this thread.

Please help support this year's grants committee.  Thank you.
