Title: off to Orkney
Post by: Theyer on June 20, 2011, 03:33:05 pm
Well dear friends a week tomorrow the 28 me,the dog my mac ,camera , change off clothes and a trunk off drugs set off for that hot spot off all things Gay and HIV the Orkney isles .Given my present condition this is adventurous. But I do long for 8 weeks without a Hospital appointment and more then that I long for life on a small island off 640 souls in the far far north. Daylight will all be 24 hours the sea can  be seen from the house and if we are lucky the sun will shine and beauty and peace shall reign. However if we are unlucky it will feel like winter and I will end up in the helicopter ambulance to the dourest of dour Aberdeen Hospital.

So wish me luck friends I know that in many ways I am very very lucky its just my body is not.
Hugs kisses tearful hankerchiefs at platform 3 Kings Cross as theyer and dog make full use off his cheapo 1st class ticket and get a porter to do the case thing .Its one off the advantages off weighing 125 lbs and being 6 feet.
Hugs and kisses and manly handshakes

Theyer, every time you write about it I go and look up pictures. It looks like a very lovely, very special place that you are from. If I lived in the UK I would so totally come and visit you there.

I hope you enjoy you're time back there.

I just looked it up also and read up on the Orkney Isles - absolutely beautiful --- I have got to get over that way (and to the Isle of Man) for a visit.  Breathtaking -

Oops - my bad - just realized that this is posted in LTS ---- my apologies  :'(

Edited - because I replied to a post in the LTS thread

And I would be thrilled, gob-smacked and very pleased to help to make your visit wonderfull, if any body wanted practical advise , like how to get cheapo tickets ,places to visit or the Gods forebid help with anything medical, the UK can be so forgiving about health care , I would help all I could.

My late Afican American partner was not asked once in 11 months off in and out patient care for proof off residency.Mind you the dear man worked hard on that accent , he levitated with joy in LA when a waiter in West Hollywood asked if he was English.

Sounds absolutely wonderful and the islands are beautiful.  How could you not relax and enjoy the place.  Hope the trip accomplishes all you wish.  Do they have internet there?

Yes Greg they do the system I have allows me wi-fi access thro out the UK. I would like to say I knew this when I signed up but discovered it by accident last time I was there. I use the mac for photography and at the moment minilist drawings that I then print up on glossy  A3 photo paper. Am also experimenting with the painting feature with Appleworks. But the energy required is rarely available and I am hoping that there will be more off it on the island. Which is why I hump an imac 1000+ miles ,now I would miss the support and general involvement in the forums .

Thanks everyone . am at this moment 1 am Sunday feeling nervous about it all.Had friends visit today, after half an hours ambling showing them the neighbourhood I broke out in huge sweat , it went after Orange Juice and something to eat but it has been a bit off a confidence basher.

I am still going just don,t feel very confident at the moment.
love theyer.

p.s. It has been a part off life for a long time .

Theyer, this is probably way off base, but when you said your sweating stopped with orange juice and some food, I thought about diabetes.  When my sugar is low, I shake and sweat, and if I drink something like orange juice, or a regular soda, it stops.  It just threw up a thought it my mind.  Maybe you've already been tested for it.  Anyway, just a thought....

Theyer, I thought the same thing as BT.  Your blood sugar may have gotten low.  Drinking orange juice or other sweetened juice or eating a sugary snack (not overdoing it) can help.

Take it easy and enjoy

Best.

Your both right my blood readings since the last chemo are not so good, the trend indicates problems on the horizon---but maybe not --today has ,apart from the news about Capt Carl, has been good and i paid close attention to food and drink as I will untill the next time I forget too.

I am at the moment realizing how inportant this forum is too me, when I joined I had no idea how it would be so affecting. lots off love to all of you , Theyer

Theyer, it may do you well to carry something "sugary" with you all the time.  Having low blood sugar can be dangerous.  Example:  A couple of weeks ago, I went too long between meals. My blood sugar got so low, I was falling when trying to walk.  I got so faded I almost called 911 on myself, and that's something I'd never do.

Please take care of yourself, and don't put yourself in danger. :-*

Dearest bt,

I will, I will , I mostly do but sometimes forget or overreach myself and sometimes these things happen when all precautions have been made.

My last chemo was stopped Half way thro as it had damaged my lungs ,, and my internal---kidney, liver , lymphatic system was completely unable to any longer deal with the chemo . This damage is permanent though the day to day effects off them had decreased greatly. However this Jan's PCP reactivated/wreaked me to such an extent that body stress problems kicked in again. Things are getting better but its a long road and well we all know.

However today the Sun in London is Blazing that means two days in a row so that means Summer hooray  and I feel fine about setting off tomorrow . lots off love theyer
