still very worried > oral sex risk

hello everyone,

i just really need your advice and expertise regarding my situation.

in May2005, i was 19 yrs. old, my friends wanted to have fun. since i never had any sexual experience, they insisted that i should try performing BJ. so, i had oral sex with a young male commercial sex worker. i performed BJ on him for a few minutes and i think i tasted what seems to be a little semen. immediately i spit it out, rinsed my mouth with water and applied a thin layer of toothpaste in my mouth.

after that, i never really gave much thought about HIV. It's just that last Aug.2009 i had a fever that lasted overnight. during that time, i didn't know what came over me, but i started searching the net for HIV symptoms and i instantly thought i had it. aside from the fever, i  experienced nausea and loss of appetite for about a week.

i finally decided last Oct.2009 to get tested, rapid antibody test (blood was drawn from a vein) and it came back Non-Reactive to HIV 1 & 2. i started feeling better for a while but then i started developing traits like washing my hands with alcohol all the time, spraying alcohol to surfaces that i came in contact with, separated my toothbrush from the rest of my family, etc...

here are my concern:
>is Rapid test still effective in detecting HIV antibodies even after 4 yrs. of possible exposure?
>is my test results reliable and conclusive given that i tested after 4 yrs. of possible exposure?
>does taking vitamins and supplements affect the outcome of the HIV rapid test?
>does smoking affect the results of the test?

pls. help me with this.

You never had an exposure from oral sex and we can't help you with your OCD. You'll need to seek professional mental help for your OCD.

i have just been really worried so i took the test anyway.

what concerns me is that i waited so long to get tested. what-if it's undetectable?!

You're mixing up different things and coming to a totally wrong conclusion. Even someone whose viral load is undetectable would still test positive on an HIV test if they were actually HIV positive.

You are worrying needlessly. Nothing you did put you at risk for HIV. As far as that oral sex incident is concerned, your saliva contains over a dozen elements and proteins which very effectively prevent the transmission of viable HIV if it is present.

Get on with your life. There's no need for testing unless you need the inevitable negative result to put your mind at ease.
