Alternative to Truvada?
« on: November 28, 2016, 11:09:41 pm »
Hey there. Good evening to you all.

I've been positive for 5 years. Four of those, I've been on Atripla and have recently changed to Trivicay+Truvada due to sleeping and cognitive problems.

Luckily those problems are gone, but I still have gastrointestinal problems, mainly chronic diahrea and gas.
I was tested positive to lactose intolerance right after I stated my treatment with Atripla. Before it, I never had any issue with my bowels, but after the treatment (both on Atripla and he new regime) I'm having daily diahrea, even after I quit dairy products.

I know Truvada might be the main reason for this problems so I was wandering which are the alteratives I've got to change. I was tested positive to Abacavir allergic (I was meant to be changed to Triumeq).

Which drug would be suitable for me to combine with Trivicay, considering I can not take Acabavir and that Deacovy is not yet available in my country?

Thanks a lot!

This is quite unfortunate and may require strategies that are not widely in use.

I can point you some clinical trials that are duly registered and on-going.

That would give you some ideas of what is going on in clinical research. Clinical research is no guarantee that it will work, especially not until the trial is completed

NVP/ABC/3TC/... UD ; CD4 > 900; CD4/CD8 ~ 1.5   stock : 6 months (2013: FOTO= 5d. ON 2d. OFF ; 2014: Clin. Trial NCT02157311 = 4days ON, 3days OFF ; 2015: https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02157311 ; 2016: use of granted patent US9101633, 3 days ON, 4days OFF; 2017: added TDF, so NVP/TDF/ABC/3TC, once weekly

Yea. Truvada does cause gas problems from time to time. It'll go away within a couple of weeks.  But you're on a great regimine, give it a try.  I don't know what country you're in, but maybe try switching Truvada for Descovy??
