Good Evening AIDS Meds Family,

It has been a very long time since I have been here, and thought I would check in and say hi.

I hope all had pleasant holidays.

Down here in Mexico it was just more of the same. I guess it is a little true that time does heal but it is very slow.

I have a question in regards to risk factor. Auber and I were both infected by Manuel, so in my mind we would have the same strain of the HIV virus. We are both POZ so what is the danger if any for us. Will the infection increase if we have unprotected sex? Or is it null do to the same strain?

Thanks for your time.

Scot

Hello, greetings to Mexico

If you are sure you have the same strain, and haven't had unprotected sex with anyone else who's +ve, then none HIV-wise.

The only small point to consider is if one of you's on treatment and the other not, then it might be a bit different. However, provided the person on treatment has an undetectable viral load and takes their meds on time all the time, then this isn't really an issue either

Matt's nailed it as usual.  But keep in mind is 'if.'  IF the three of you have the same strain starting out because of how you assume you were infected and only IF you can be absolutely sure that no one else and so no one else's virus has entered into the situation.... Win

Hey Webbie,

Good to hear from you. It has been quite a while and I was wondering how you have been.

Since the others have answered, I will just say I hope you stop by more often.

HUGS,

Mark

Hi Webbie,
Like the others have posted, if you know 100% for sure of the "ifs", and if you know 100% that there is no risk of any other STD, then you and your friend need to discuss your choice and make sure you are both comfortable with your joint decision.

It was good to hear from you, and I am glad to see you are starting to heal.

Happy New Year,
Christine
