Sili(cone) Cheeks
« on: November 13, 2009, 03:44:50 am »
My Sculptra treatment from about 3 years ago finally had completely worn off and the face was looking really skeletal, so decide to go for silicone in the cheeks.  Got my first treatment today.  After the treatment I didn't look in the mirror and quickly walked about four blocks to my car with my head down thinking I probably looked like a battered spouse.
However, I was surprised to see that even with the redness and needle marks, I actually think I look more "normal" now than I did before.  I knew I was getting that sunken face look, but didn't realize it was so obvious until it's been fixed.
... and only cost $600.
Now hopefully the effect won't just completely fade away as the swelling subsides.

This treatment was much more targeted than the Sculptra treatment.   I went to Dr. Abrams in LA for those interested.

Last night friend mentioned he didn't see any difference when he casually looked at me.  However, after he learned I had had the procedure, he said on closer inspection I looked much more rested.

Three days after the procedure, the swelling along the top of the cheekbone has gone down and my life-long bags have reappeared.  At first I was quite excited that I got an unexpected eye-job.

This experience has demonstrated that those steam trunks you're carrying under your eyes can be lifted by adding volume to the top of the cheekbone.  I think this will be part of my next procedure.  I've read it can be done w/silicone and have seen one before/after photo online.  However, it requires a specialist and will most likely result in a pair of black eyes.  The silicone must be injected right on top of the bone and the skin and underlying tissue there is paper thin.  (at least this is what I've read and the doc concurred)

Has anyone had this type of eye job?

Carl:

Still hanging in there.  My cheeks deflated a bit after that first silicone treatment.  I think the doc was laying the ground work for another application because he gave me some extra width along the outer cheekbones.  So I think I need one or two more treatments (not counting that eye job I mentioned in my other post - and don't know if I have the courage for that one).

I posted a face pic on poz personals, but I'm wearing tinted glasses to cover my steam trunks and I intentionally smiled to push out the cheeks. I think in that pic I look totally normal.  Amazing what a little camera trick can accomplish.  When I look in the mirror at the gym, sometimes I see myself starting to get that Lion Woman look!

My Feb appt. got canceled by the doc, so now I'm set to get another treatment first week in April.  He's gotten so busy he's booked a month in advance!  Lots of gay primpers out there having liposuction to get the perfect six pack, minus the love handles.

I'm scheduled to have Sculptra in a week or two. Cost is for one treatment $1600. Seems steep. I live in New York and this doctor has been doing this treatment since before it was approved by the FDA. Anyone have a source that won't break the bank?

I did a different treatment about a month ago and am very satisfied with the results, but it cost me $2500.

I'm running out of money all to look like I'm not poz.

Hope someone has some advice.

Best,
LES Jake

Sculptra has a patient's assistance program that covers the Sculptra itself and then you just pay for the doctor. There's a link below and you can always PM Miss Philicia, who mentioned recently that he got Sculptra that way.

Mitch: Please keep us posted on your progress. Didn't Abrams mention from the beginning that it would take several visits to really see results with Silicone since it has to be applied in small amounts?

If he can afford $2500 for a treatment I somehow doubt that his income level is low enough to qualify for the Sculptra patient assistance program, but off the top of my head I wasn't told what the income cut off was when I applied, just that there wasn't any question that I qualified after they looked at my social security income yearly benefits statement.
