Title: Been looking not found info on working as newly diagnosed etc
Post by: Jimalee on October 04, 2012, 07:58:23 pm
I wrote in one of the other posts that I was on disability for another reason.  Normally I could survive on my SSD income, however I just had a 3mo hospital stay and a 1mo rehab stay.  The bills have piled up awaiting me paying my spend down for Medicaid (secondary ins.) I am now about 1000.00 behind on that.
My decision to not go back to my regular job is every penny earned would go to medicaid as increased spend down.  Here is my question:  I know a restaurant that would maybe hire me for cash pay.  My concern is I am still low in #'s as only recently started meds from ground zero.  I am having eye site issues not sure if from HIV or a brain tumor I have.  I have nurophathy in my leg and feet thought to be from the HIV (according to doc) along with joints stiff etc.  I am financially strapped but wonder with being newly diagnosed with the low #'s is it a health risk for me to take on a job that would demand physical activity such as dish washing or busing etc.. The job would only help me survive maybe.    I know this may be stupid question but I am new the the game of HIV life.  I did read several post but none really helped me.
Thanks for any input, Jimmie

I think it would be fine to do the job you describe but make sure you listen to your body don't over exert yourself. What important is since your still have very low CD4, make sure you wear glove or mask when dealing with trash or anything dirty that pose a risk of infection.

From what read, you don't really have a choice.

Take your medication as prescribe, you will be fine in a month or two.
