Worried about HIV
« on: November 20, 2023, 07:08:19 am »
Hi all,

I'm very new here and decided to make an account to post to get an educated opinion on whether it's likely I have contracted HIV.

The wait for the 45 day and 3 month mark for conclusive testing is awful and should deter anyone from making the same mistake I made.

I (healthy male) performed unprotected oral and received unprotected oral on/from a transgender woman who is an escort (previously was a Pornstar in Brazil). I also bottomed for this escort but I used protection. I am not aware of any condom malfunction. All in one session.

Symptoms:

The below symptoms are incremental and mostly disappeared before the next lot started.

Day 6-8
-mild burning/tingling/dryness around lips/mouth
-small mouth ulcer on inside of bottom lip gum (went away very quickly)
-medium fairly painless ulcer near top gum
-tooth pain followed
-Was convinced that I may have contracted Oral HSV-1 (Herpes) but after a while I noticed I didn't have any blisters and it went away over the next couple days

Day 9-10
-Mild flu like symptoms (sneezing here and there, runny nose)
-Heartburn when eating

Day 11
-Severe headache all day
-high fever for an hour (then became intermittent)
-heartburn when eating
-mild flu like symptoms

Day 12
-Medium headache which spread to left side of neck
-Intermittent fever and chills
-Diarrhoea
-Stomach cramps
-Night fever up and down

Day 13 - Day 20 (today)
-occasional diarrhoea
-stomach cramps which are up and down
-frequent stomach gurgling and noises (feeling too)
-heartburn when eating (has gotten much better)
-Foul flatulence
-Burping frequently
-Joint pain
-Bad taste in mouth

The gastro issues have remained for a week now and its quite concerning as this has happened timely after a potential risk exposure.

Tests taken:
13th Nov (13 days after exposure) - Negative for Hepatitis B, Clamidya, Gonnorhea, Syphillis, HIV
18th Nov (18 days after exposure) - Negative for HIV 15minute self-test kit (finger prick)

The above tests are way too early and I'd really appreciate some thoughts and guidance on the above.

Hiya,

Understand you had intercourse, received and gave a blowjob.

Firstly, I'm sorry to hear that you started feeling unwell 6 days afterwards; it has nothing to do with HIV from the concerned encounter. Work with your healthcare provider to treat whatever is causing your issues. I hope you feel better again, but don't mention any symptoms again. Thank you.

Regarding intercourse, HIV can't transmit through an intact latex or polyurethane condom. Unless a condom obviously fails during intercourse, there is no reason to be stressing or testing for HIV outside the standard yearly HIV screening.

Receiving a blowjob lacks the conditions required for acquiring HIV; thus, it makes sense that after 40+ years of this pandemic in terms of BJs, there hasn't been a single documented case of HIV transmission to an insertive partner (the person being "sucked"), and you will not be the worlds first.

Giving a blowjob well, the mouth generally lacks a route for HIV to infect, and saliva also neutralises HIV by damaging the receptors needed to infect human cells. Giving a blowjob is a minute HIV risk that doesn't warrant testing outside the standard yearly screening.

All in all, move on with your life! Keep using condoms, consider PrEP, and as you are sexually active, get a yearly screening for STIs & HIV.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Kind regards

Jim

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the speedy response.

Appreciate your comments and they are noted.

Just wondered if you think I should do another test at 30days and/or 45 days?

I ask because my symptoms day 11-20 which are still ongoing seem to target my gastrointestinal/stomach region.

In cases you might have encountered, would you say this is common during seroconversion for HIV?

Other than my quite sudden stomach cramps/diarrhoea, I feel quite healthy.

Many thanks

Asked and answered.

Move on with your life and please don't post about this again as I'll consider it excessive resulting in a 28 day ban.

I saw a copy of the complaint that I had failed to answer one of the questions from your last post.

I am 100% sure the questions asked have been answered already, as I do make an effort to carefully read each post three times before answering as we take risk assessment and the information provided here seriously, but you never know; I am only human so if I did miss something I will apologize but let me break this down.

I've previously informed you that you basically had no HIV risk from what you posted here and as such no reason to test outside of the standard yearly routine and to move on with your life.
