Finger Exposed to MC Fluid of a Sex Worker ! Am I at Risk ?

Hi,

Though this question may have been answered on number of occasions the anxiety in me still does not let me be at peace and hence thought of putting this post. Please Help calm my anxiety and Fear !

I performed Unprotected Oral sex on a Prostitute (i.e. I licked her Vagina this would be for hardly 2-3 minutes or so) This incident happened 4 days back.  I don’t remember having any cuts or wounds or ulcers in my mouth. I get Dry Lips very often, But I don’t think that day I had any really cracked lip which was bleeding maybe I had a little peeled off skin (I dont know if you would call it cracked lip or not, But my Guess is No, it was not the cracked lip situation people normally have)  and that was just only at the outside, lower part of my lip, again it was not bleeding as far as I remember. But I can’t confidently say if that part came into contact with her Vagina while I was performing cunnilingus on her. I dont remember of having tasted any vaginal fluid or anything of that sort while I was doing that and maybe certainly not blood if she has been menstruating. I had mouthwashed about half an hour back before this entire episode happened. And the mouthwash I use is a little strong one, it gives a little burning sensation in the tongue so I dont know if that had irritated the tongue and created small sores at that moment, didn't feel like one, but generally after using my mouthwash my tongue gets red, making me believe that it gets irritated after a mouthwash, would that have posed any threat ?

Later I had also asked that lady if she was having her periods that day and to that also, she refused and told me that, had that been the case even I would have not allowed you to do what you did. So…

We just stopped at Oral sex and Fondling each other’s genitals but we certainly didn’t have any penetrative Vaginal or Anal Sex.

What is the possibility of me getting infected with HIV ? Do I need to get tested atall in the first place for HIV ? If yes in how many days ?

You did NOT have a risk for hiv infection. Going down on a woman is not a risk, regardless of chapped lips or mouthwash use.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST SPECIFICALLY OVER ORAL SEX, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

That should calm me down a bit. So Since based on the description of my situation since you feel I did not risk any HIV Infection. I don't need to get tested aswell for HIV right ? I do get the point for other STD's but in general for HIV no ? right ? I dont need to get tested ? is what you are saying ?

Yes, I am saying that you do NOT need to test over this specific situation. Not one person has ever been infected through giving a woman oral sex and you will not be the first.

However, if you're sexually active and if you're not already in the habit of having regular, routine, yearly sexual health check-ups, then that is a habit you should get into.

Hi,

I visited a Prostitute a couple of days back 3 days back. I did not have a Vaginal Intercourse, I just fingered her Vagina. I noticed some Red/Orangish colour Fluid on my finger when I asked her if that was her Menstrual Fluid she said she is due for her periods but she didnt know that it had already started on that day, so she said even I am not sure. As far as I remember I did not have any cuts or wounds on my finger.

So Hypothetically considering a lot of things

1. If for a moment if we assume that she was a HIV carrier

2. If the Red/ Orangish Fluid was her Menstrual Fluid.

Am I at Risk ? Do I need to get Tested ?

I Did not have a Intercourse with her, I just fingered her Vagina !!

Please help me relieve my stress and Anxiety.

Not one person has ever been infected through fingering and you are not going to be the first. Hiv can only infect a very few, every specific types of cells and these cells are not found on your fingers.

The cells that hiv CAN infect are found in the lining of the anus, the lining of the vagina, the lining of the urethra (where semen and pee come out of your penis) and the inner lining of the foreskin in uncircumcised men. The inner lining of the foreskin is that part that is hidden when the foreskin is folded over the head of the penis.

This is why sexually speaking, the ONLY proven risks for hiv infection are unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse. You didn't have unprotected intercourse so you were not at risk.

Thanks Ann, that should relieve my anxiety and stress to quite a bit extent. So Ann can I rest assure myself that I am not at Risk and I do not need to get tested for HIV?

Also as I mentioned earlier, I did not have any cuts or wounds, which was largely visible on my finger (I mean that is why I said earlier in my question, as far as I remember nothing visible or hurting me otherwise I would have felt it as simple as that. Nothing that could be identified as a cut or wound on my finger with the naked eye under microscope who knows ?) so even if we consider say, there was a minor cut or a peeled off skin what were the chances of me getting infected then ?

The Point I am trying to make is If we asume I had a Cut or a Peeled off skin on my Finger and If her Menstrual Fluid stuck on my finger, is that not a Blood Exposure to a HIV Infected Blood ?

You have NOT had a risk for hiv infection.

You do NOT need to test specifically over this fingering incident. However, as a sexually active adult you should be testing for ALL the STIs at least once a year, as I outlined in reply #1.

It doesn't matter if you had cuts -visible or otherwise - or hangnails or bitten nails or whatever. Fingering is not a risk for hiv infection, end of story. Not one person has EVER been infected this way and you are not going to be the first.

You have NOT had a risk for hiv infection and you do NOT need to test just because you fingered someone.
