TMC125 Study and Labs

Hi Everyone,

  I just found out a few days ago that I was receiving active drug in
the TMC 125 trial- so I am taking Truvada, Prezista, TMC125(to be approved next month). I started
this regimen in May '06 and and after 17 years diagnosed went
undetectable within 2 months. Viral load was 30,000 and cd4 around 250
and cd4 percentage 16%. My labs have been basically in the same range-
cd4 absolute around 350-400 and cd4 perc. 22% and undetectable v/l. I
noticed my latest labs from 12/19 were 323 cd4 and cd4 perc. 27%- which
is the highest I've ever seen. I feel very good in general but have a number
of warts on the back of my hands and feet and numerous trips to
dermatologist freezing them have not helped. I was wondering just how
effective adding Isentress would be for my CD4 count. I have read that Fuzeon and Prezista produce amazing
CD4 results and from what I know maybe Isentress would do the same. Any
feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there. Just started on Isentress (with Truvada) this week so I can't say what my labs are yet.  Fortunately, so far, I haven't experienced any side effects. Loud knock on wood.  Actually feel a little peppier. Dosage is one pill twice a day. I went off of Kaletra (with Truvada). Among other things, I was very concerned about my lipid numbers  and diarrhea. One thing to consider is if the resistance profile of your existing regimen would allow you to return to it should Isentress not work out for one reason or another.

Hi Tim.  I'm on the exact same regimen (Isentress, Prezista/Norvir and Truvada) that you are currently.  I switched from Fuzeon to Isentress 1.5 months ago and I'll get my first labs back next week.

You are correct about the Fuzeon/Prezista combo giving wildly favorable cd4 gains.  Mine almost doubled, though I had a higher count than you did when I began that treatment (I was on it for 1.5 years).  I'm only hoping to maintain what I gained with Isentress, as my cd4's have been +1,000 now for an entire year and I assume that is as high as they will go.  I'm not on my own computer to exactly look at my old labs, but I think it took me 5 months to bump them up that high.
