Id like to just chime in on the bloating and weight gain, as I have had this and still experiencing this on a new med odefsey.

One thing I found that really helped with managing weight and bloating is to eat smaller, healthier meals throughout the day. Cut out most if not all sodas, fries, chips cookies and sugary treats. A cheat meal once a week isnt too bad.

Combine this with a normal exercise routine of even just walking at least 30 minutes a day and you should start to see a difference in a months time. You will feel healthier and not have that bloated sluggish feeling you once had when over eating 2-3 meals a day.

Hi Guys,

The thread was a zombie thread from 2014 and most of the members in that thread have moved on, so I split your replies into a new thread.

If you are yourself having problems currently and you are concerned the first port of call is to see your primary doctor to check and treat/rule out any underlying conditions, interactions or problems.

I think bloating is pretty common with Truvada. It certainly was with me in the early days. Excess gas is also a common reported thing.

As for weight gain - I have absolutely seen this myself, quite a marked difference. I don't think it's anything sinister though. I put it down to my metabolic rate reverting to norm after years of my body being on high alert fighting a virus, coupled with a seemingly ravenous appetite at times. Weight gain is common after starting HIV meds, but whilst it may be a problem for the person it is a sign that the drugs are working and things are returning to 'normal'.

Healthy eating and exercise is the answer. If only I could remember that when facing a pizza...

oops, sorry Jim. Didn't mean to revive a zombie thread. I just wanted to see how others have been dealing with the bloating. I have been on Tivicay/Truvada and now with descovy for well over a year and I am really annoyed with the bloating. I didn't have this at all when I was on truvada and viramune. I am really itching to go back on viramune
