Hi everyone

Ric is in hospital and has been for about a week now,  (Thom has been keeping me updated) he started off with a G.I. bleed and was taken in for some tests, nothing has really came of those as far as I know,  but they have kept him in on a glucose drip and lots of bed rest, he has also had a battery of tests on his liver and colon, I think the liver tests are fine, and as soon as I know the results of all the others I will let you know.

He is very weak and as you can imagine not in the best of health, so some positive thoughts to help him along would be nice..thanks.

though I don't really know either of the guys, I do know that waiting in the hospital to find out what's going on is an extremely difficult and trying time. (heck! Just being IN the hospital is a terrible time.) Tell Ric and Thom I'll keep them both in my thoughts and am hoping for a quick, easy recovery from whatever the problem is.  :-*

Hi Ric,

I'm sorry to learn of your stay in the hospital. I hope the staff are kind and attentive. A good nursing crew makes all the difference in your state of mind and body.

I don't know how you are with forced rest---some are better than others at adapting. Are you listening to books on tape? Seeing any movies on DVD via laptop (or perhaps the hospital has AV equipment)? Do you like music? Do you have an iPOD or other MP3 unit? Got a relaxation tape or DVD?

Does the hospital offer any sort of massage therapy to patients who are in bed over a long stretch?

Okay, so I've asked a slew of questions and I hope all or nearly all of the answers are Yes.

I won't end with take care of yourself, but instead, let others take care of you and let go of any stressful thinking. Oh yes...one final question. Who's your favorite comedian? Got any of his or her material to watch or listen to?

I trust Thom or Annie will pass along any notes to you.

Dearest Ric...Here's hoping for a full and speedy recovery, hope all the tests turn out fine and you are back on your feet (or off them if you choose  ;) real soon.  Thom- you take care of yourself as well.  And thanks Jan for keeping us posted.

Ric is getting some Glucose and they have done two more blood transfusions and will probably give him a couple more later tonight or early tomorrow.

He isn't long back back from another round of tests,  he started the testing early in the morning so he was pretty tired by the time he got back in the afternoon and is sleeping alot, which is the best thing for him just now.

They won't know until later tonight or early tomorrow what the results are, but they are watching him closely, he is getting a little stronger and is not so jaundice looking, Thom is coping Ok although he is worried about Ric but will keep us informed and let us know when Ric is out of hospital.


Thom and Ric both appreciate your kind words and thoughts.
