I have searched the various boards regarding Dr. Casavantes for PMMA and Dr. Orentriech for Silskin, and I need additional information on your personal experiences with either doctor, and how long has it been since you had your procedure, and are you having any side effects. I am concerned of the problems down the road. I am so ready to take the first step, however I am scared and concerned. Thanks in advance...

I've done research on both PMMA and Silskin. This link below are the experiences of a guy who went to Derek Jones in LA for Silskin:

I am leaning toward PMMA when and if the time comes for me to need it. You can find several people who have gone to Cassavantes on the pozhealth usergroup on Yahoo (pozhealth@yahoogroups.com)

Some people have used a combination of both materials on the face. As you probably already know, the important thing is that the materials used be pure and that the doctor doing the procedure be very skilled and experienced. The two MDs I'd trust with PMMA are Cassavantes and Serra (in Rio) and for Silskin, Orentreich or Derek Jones (LA).

Thank you for your response, were you a patient of Dr. Casavantes?  :)

The pozhealth yahoo group that I mentioned has several members who have been patients of Cassavantes. You can join by just emailing them, I'm pretty sure, and then you can post a message like you did here. Since there several people there who have been to him so you might have better luck in finding not just one but maybe a few responses.

Also,if you have not seen it, there is a blog here on Poz, by a guy named Dave and he devotes a whole entry to his experience going to Cassavantes and has several pictures:

I went to him a few times.  Started out great, ended with us not speaking to each other.  He does some great work, I think face or butt is a safe bet for him.  But I'm a woman that needed hips and he did kind of mess it up a bit and then blame me for it saying I pressured him to fill one more time too many and that he really thought we should stop.  But still, I couldn't force him to take my money and do it, could I?  I did not manage to get past airport security at Laguardia in NY with a gun in my luggage and then cross Tijuana border with it and then hold it to his head and force him to fill my hips again.  It was just supposed to be a final touch up visit to even out and fine tune them, but he left me with a bulge on my right hip that now has turned my hip into looking like the only viable muscle on my body as the rest of me is out of shape!  That might be great if it matched the other hip and if the hips actually had muscles, but hips on a woman is bone and fat, no muscle.  So I feel a bit dumb looking to have this bulge now.  He also left me with some lumps on front of pelvis, he didn't realize pressure or whatever was going to push the gel from hips to pelvis, ok, but he never suggested any way to remedy this.  This i still want to know, like can I get kenalog injection?  I just think that maybe other drs have a protocol for a miship such as having the gel migrate after injection.  It migrates right away.  Once u form collagen it cannot move. It like sticks to my skin pretty much.  But when first injected pressure can cause it to move.  Why doesn't he blame me for that also?  What woman doesn't want to look like she has a small tumor on the front of her pelvis to explain to the gyn dr all the time that it is not harmful?

I have a plastic surgeon where I live that wants about $2,000 now to try to scrape some of it out, said I'd be left with scars tho.  I think Dr. C should offer up to give me back the money to pay for that after I spent there, probably between 9 and 12 thou, I think I went 4 times, ranging from $2500 to $3500 or so a visit, plus airfare, youth hostel, k, couple times I stayed in hotel too.

My face no problems, you can't tell I had it.  :) I would like more in the face, now I would have to find a new doctor.  But at least no noticeable lumps or bumps.  You would not know I had filler.

I do not have lipodystrophy.  I'm just a blah looking woman trying to look better with every last penny.    Having been born with an extremly thin and long face and body parts too think like hips, I think I understand it very well though.  I also was an athlete years ago and suffered an injury I still can't get over either, that takes most of my money too actually, and so I have a lot of muscle atrophy.  I'm naturally bad at gaining weight.  So muscle atrophy and naturally not having fat, makes me very lanky looking, toothpick legs, I don't find ultra thin to be attractive on women.  People try to make me feel lucky and I think they're nuts

Anyway, If you go to his website you see great work.  I doubt anyone else would have my problem with him.  Hips is not a common request as many of his patients are men, and if they are women, most women want to get rid of hips, not add them.  If he didn't snap at me and blame me for the bad work on my hip, I would even maybe go back to him as I want more in my face and probably some in my butt, which we had talked about doing.  If I didn't tell him about being unhappy with the one side, we never would have argued and I would have been able to return instead of having to find a new dr.
