Can i stop testing?
« on: June 23, 2011, 09:00:07 am »
On february the 24 i had an risky episode. I had sex with a prostitute transexual. She gave me oral sex (she sucked me unprotected) and we did frottage between our penis and with my penis and her anus, unprotected. Suddendly i did an extra force and i feel that i was entering, but i put out my penis inmediatelly, i'm not sure even if i enter she, i didn't enter completely for sure. Then i put a condom on my penis and i penetrate her.
Afterthat around two weeks i star to feeling guilty (i'm married) and worried about HIV. I search in internet and knew about ARS, afterthat i feel sick, depressed, thoath pain and 1 night i had fever (37,5ºC).
I had the following tests:

32 days post-exposition HIV DUO (Roche) and PCR quantitative
63 days post-exposition HIV DUO(vidas Ultra)
64 days post-exposition HIV DUO (vidas Ultra) (yes, one day after the previous one because the doctor want this to "be sure", the second analisis was carried out with another blood sample, it means they took me blood sample two consecutive days)
88 days post-exposition HIV DUO (Roche).

All this tests were negative, the question is the following:
¿can i stop testing and exclude the posibility of be infected with HIV? ¿Is my 88 days-test conclusive? ¿I have to re-test at 6 months?, i feel guilty to have sex with my wife because i'm affraid to infect her.
Sorry for my english, is far to be acceptable...

From what you have described you really never had a risk to begin with since it's speculative as to whether you actually penetrated her or not.

With that in mind I don't see any need for further testing. Yes, you are HIV negative. Just be sure to always have condoms handy and use them if you are going to have intercourse. No exceptions.

Garo,

You do not need further testing. You do not have hiv!!!

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

Hi again
i write to share my concerns. Yesterday night my wife star to develop a bit of fever and sore throat, and I'm so afraid to transmit the HIV to her.
I know that you told me that i have no HIV but i can't stop to think that I'm took the virus.
Overmore since i put myself on risk, trying to be responsible with my wife, i insist her to use condons and we are not having unprotected sex, but prepenetration sex (you know rubbing, etc) is unprotected, then I'm so afraid to transmit the HIV to her, I'm feeling horrible and i can't stop to blame myself.
You think that I'm overreacting and that i have no reason to think in the way I'm thinking????
This "guilt-drive behaviour" that i have is common or you think that i need psychological assistance?
I don't believe my tests,( i did it in 2 different labs (the most modern in the city), you think that this is stupid way to think?, i mean this 4th generation test are complicated to carried-out and could be that people is doing in the wrong way?
I will test again this week, it will be 19Th week, i hope that everything were OK and i finally star to believe to tests.
Thanks again and i hope that my questions were not disturbing for you

Garo,

You cannot give your wife a virus you do not have. If she feels unwell, she should see a doctor. Whatever is going on has NOTHING to do with hiv. Nothing you have been doing with her has been a risk for hiv infection anyway.

If you cannot put this behind you, then yes, perhaps counselling is in order. We cannot help you with that here.

You do not have hiv. Don't be surprised when your nineteen week test also returns with negative results.

We call a doctor for her and she has "Red angina", well i suppose  that nothing related to HIV.
Today i was in a clinic because i have a "general control" of health (blood test included HIV), i will have the results next Monday.
I will let you know about the results.
Thank you very much for your support
