I'm I infected?
« on: July 13, 2012, 12:02:43 pm »
I had unprotected sex with a woman last November 2011, after a week had all the ars symptoms, for three weeks at least, and had lower back pain, as well as my girlfriend,  I went back to the women, who has a steady sex partner, and she has tested negative at 30, 60, and 90 days on hiv 1 y 2 antigen p24 (4th generation), I got real bad the other day and have been suffering episodes for days some days are doing much better when I exercise. (swollen nodes, tingling in hands and feet, lower back pain, low grade fever, thrush, rash in my scalp) I just tested negative at 6 months, but have this dreaded symptoms, as well as my girlfriend, and she has a bad herpes outbreak, could it possibly be that since that women has been having sex with her own partner, tests negative because she is always being re-infecting, as well as I with my girlfriend? and that is the reason we both test negative??? we are always in window period?? Could someone explain??

You have over tested and have a conclusive negative result. You do not have HIV.

When someone has had a risky incident meaning specifically either unprotected vaginal or anal intercourse, the only test result that really matters is your own.

You have more than reliably tested negative for HIV. You are HIV negative.

Your symptoms have nothing to do with HIV. If they persist you should discuss them with your doctor. And you can avoid having any sexual risk in the future for HIV by always without exceptions using a condom everytime for intercourse. Yes, it is really that simple.

Move on with your life. HIV is not a problem for you at this point.

Thanks Rapid Rod, and Andy but what could these symptoms be? A doctor at The Body.com, said he recommends to wait until the 8th month to be sure?? No window period here to worry about nor re-infection?

That doctor suggesting 8 months is frankly ridiculous. Only in rare circumstances such as organ transplant or longterm intravenous drug use is testing necessary to 6 months, but not longer. Otherwise 3 months has long been the standard and reliable testing point for a conclusive result.

We can't diagnose symptoms. All we can tell you with confidence is that you do not have an HIV problem. You need to discuss your symptoms with a doctor in person to find out what the real cause of your symptoms might be. It's definitely not HIV.

Thank you so much Andy, one thing I've read is that false negatives are due to re-infection, I wonder if by having unprotected sex with my gf constantly could be the reason why I got a negative "non reactive' result, should I abstain/protect myself and get re-tested ?? what do you think?

Unless your gf has HIV you can't give her anything you don't have.

I have no idea where that ludicrous notion came from, but it certainly wasn't this site.

We don't have time nor patience to combat misinformation/disinformation that exists all over the web. It's a pretty time-consuming job just making sure OUR science is current.

Hi there, just got my blood tests for blood cell count, it shows leucocites at 13200 segmented 75%, linfocits only 13% (normal rank is 20-49), and monocits are high as well, could someone explain what this means??
