Question about my labs.....

So for the last 18 months I have had a VL <50.

For the last 12 months my CD4 has hovered around 500 and my percentage has hovered around 24-26 percent.  Since i am stable I get labs done every four months.

My most recent labs my CD4 was 505 which I expected but my percentage shot up to 32%!  That is actually in the normal range!  I thought that % usually stayed more stable than the actual CD4 count so I found the change odd.  Now the question for all you lab guru's out there.....do you think my % will stay that high or will it change too?  I know it is like asking a crystal ball but for the first time my percent is actually normal and I want it to stay there!

Anywho, if anyone has any insight, let me know.  Just to recap started with a VL off the charts, CD4 of 22 and percent of 2, a little over 2 years ago.  Reyetaz, Norvir and Truvada since I am resistant to the sustiva class of drugs.....

The % can and does vary on a regular basis.  However, other issues in our bodies can affect this number and you might have something going on that would change this number.  Further inquiry might be a good idea, but I personally would crack open a bottle and celebrate.  I wouldn't think you should be alarmed by this change.

Certainly not alarmed.  Just thought I had kind of leveled off and to see the % jump, which is normally more stable, kind of shocked me.  Especially since I felt like crap all of Feb ....

I'm on the same protocol as you.  I started in Dec. 2003 with 18 t-cells.  By Oct. 2005 (just short of 2 years on meds) my t-cells numbered 585 and for the first time I came in at 30%.

In the 18 months since then my t-cells have maxed out at 609 (last November, 2006) at 38%.  They fell as low as 409 (Aug. 2006) but the percentage maintained at 31%. 

Since Oct. 2005,  my percentages have been in the 30's though the t-cells keep moving up and down, back and forth.

So to answer your question, yes I think you can still expect fluctuations in your t-cells but your percentages should stay fairly constant.
