This is an adorable clip of the kids' reactions to the racist comments from people who were upset about interracial couple in the commercial.

Aren't kids great?  My son asked me about the prejudice against same-sex marriage when he was about 12.  After I explained the situation to him he said.....

"That's stupid."

It is kinda amazing that this is the first mixed-race couple in a commercial?  As far as I can remember, there has never been a lead mixed couple on a drama or sitcom.  Well, there's Tom and Helen Wilis, but they weren't the main characters.  Having said that, that was huge for the time.  I'm sure you could find other supporting characters, who were mixed couples.  But, Hollywood and advertisers like to keep the races together.

There was that leak from a car commercial, where they were looking for a black actor.  They specified that he should be light-skinned.  Since then, I've noticed when I see black actors (men especially) in ads, they are most always light skinned.

When you look at TV shows and hosts, they are like 99% white.  Hispanics are still cast as maids and gardeners.  Leading actors in movies are white.  My point is I think so many act like things have changed so much, but it seems not as much as we like to tell ourselves.

Thoughts that are not tainted, kids are honest.  Well, except when it comes to who hit who first.
