Tooting my own horn...life's up's and down's!!!
« on: November 16, 2006, 11:30:26 pm »
Well, what a rollercoaster life can be!...  Just last week I was crying to you all how I lost my beloved companion Cora, and today I was honored with a top award at my hospital. I received a "Caregiver of the Year" award!

I had an inkling that I was going to get the award, and expect that some of it was motivated by the fact that my employers are realizing how much I do (and have been conditionally offered a position at another facility.)  I know from past presentations that family and friends are often brought in and appear through a door on the other side of the stage once they announce the name, but I was truly surprised to see both my mom and my dad there, with three of my lifelong friends in tow!!!! That was a real shocker.  I was also shocked to see my mom and dad come through the same door, and so close to each other.  I don't think they've been that close to each other since their last court date which was about a hundred years ago! My mom actually flew in today, just for this, and I just took her back to the airport so she could fly home.

It meant a lot to me.  This is the second-highest award an employee of my company can receive (you have to be a public servant or dead to get the highest) and it's not often given to people who are not in direct patient care.   But in addition to what they said about me today, I have been recognized for helping an old lady who fell down, and sometimes translating, among other things. It also carries a nice bonus, which I will use to catch up on bills and hopefully replenish my AMG savings, all of which was wiped out by veterinary and crematory services last week.

I am attaching some pix of me with my folks, so you can see where I get my good looks, and prove to you that two white people can have a brownish boy of their own!

Love,
Creighton

I can't think of anyone more deserving of the award...Your parents must be very proud, I know I would be.

Next time I fall down in the paddock and go sliding into the creek I know who I'm going to call on..you are obviously very good at helping old ladies in distress.... ;)

Well done Creighton.

Toot away! Congratulations, Creighton. They're fortunate to have you working there.

And thanks for those swell pictures of you with your folks. You all radiate the positive in the best sense of the word. It's good to have an occasion like this to share with you on this wild 'n crazy journey of ups 'n downs.

Big cheers, buddy,

Queen Akasha:  I have Spanish and Native American thrown in with the rest of the European mix, and when you put those two together you usually get Mexican...and yes I have lots of ancestors with the same complexion.  At family reunions, those who don't know me often ask to whom am I married! I usually answer them with a Cholo-Vato accent, just to thow them off.  My mom apologizes for my behavior, while I take the husbands off on a Bud Lite run.  Technically, though, I guess you could say I'm Mexican by injection!  ;)
