ARS symptoms after deep kissing
« on: November 14, 2013, 08:24:56 am »
Hi all,
About 7 months ago i kissed a girl, very deep and hard. I gave her hickey in her lips. We kissed 3-4 times. I don't know if she had any blood in her mouth that time. I had a crack in my lip as it was winter season but it was mild. We didn't have sex but the girl had unprotected vaginal sex with another guy which i didn't know at that time. But i'm a virgin. Next day after the last kiss and about 11 days after the first kiss i woke up with dry cough, stuffy nose and low grade fever( 99 - 100 F ). I took paracetamol for the fever. I didn't take any medicine for 1 day even though the temperature didn't rise, it stayed at 99.4 F all that day. The fever stayed for 4 days. The dry cough stayed for a month but it was mild. In the third day of symptoms i had some red dots inside my lips. Gradually it spread in my whole mouth. It almost looked like skin rash though it wasn't. The skin of my mouth were peeling. I had burning sensation while eating spicy foods that time. The redness stayed for about 13 days. I also had mild diarrhea from the second day. It stayed for a month but it wasn't persistent, it comes and goes away then again comes and goes away. From the 8th day of symptoms i had extreme hunger frequently. It stayed for about 2 weeks. I also had muscle and joint ( shoulder, elbow and knee ) pain at that time. It stayed for another 1.5 week. In the 27th day of symptoms i again had that redness and peeling inside my lips and mouth. That time it lasted for about 12 days. I took vitamin B tablet for the peeling. I also felt fatigue that time for about 7 days. I also felt dry mouth that time. All those symptoms happened in 45 days. After 45 days i didn't have any of those symptoms. Now again i have been suffering from that same kind of  low grade fever( 99 F ) for 4 days. I also have mild cough. The fever is gone now. I never had this kind of low grade fever before kissing that girl. I'm extremely worried about those symptoms. Because the symptoms appeared only after kissing her. I know my risk was extremely low. I also asked in thebody.com and they said there was no risk. I also asked an HIV specialist in my country (BANGLADESH) the same question and here is what he replied, " Have you thought about doing HIV test. I strongly recommend for doing an HIV test from a Voluntary counseling and Testing centre (VCT). And then we can proceed further from there."
Another thing which made me think of HIV that 1 month before i kissed that girl she had tonsillitis and high fever. She also lost almost 9 pound in a month.
Are those really symptoms of HIV ?
Do i need a test ?

Kissing is not a risk and you did not or could not have contracted HIV in that manner .

The risk factors for HIV are ...
Sharing IV drug injection equipment .
Unprotected vaginal or anal sex .
From mother to child during pregnancy or during childbirth

The reason one of the sources told you to test is because anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple

You did not have a risk and do not need to test for this specific incident . Also , please break up your post in to small paragraphs , its much easier to read that way . Thanks .

Thanks Jeff G for your reply.
I will break up post in paragraph from next time. Another thing just to be clear i didn't have sex with anyone except the kiss and it was my first kiss. I kissed her 3-4 times.
Another question do ARS symptoms vary from Asia to other continents ?

ARS symptoms are also the symptoms of many other conditions other than HIV and are not helpful in figuring out your HIV status . The only way to know your HIV status is to test for HIV at the appropriate time .

No one in the history of HIV has ever been infected from kissing and since you have never had sex unless you have been sharing drug injection equipment or were born with HIV you do not need to be worrying you are infected . If this is your only concern then you do not have HIV and can forget about this no risk situation .
