Saga Is Over
« on: July 02, 2011, 02:40:26 pm »
Lucklily this is not a rant.  It has a happy ending.
I mentioned awhile back that one of Kurts dreams was to go to Berlin.  So, because he seemed to be doing so well, he made arrangements to attend a summer program at the Goerte Institute.  When he arraived in Berlin it was hot.  His room had no airconditioning ( nor did anything).  He took subways and busses to class , none of which were air conditioned,  and sweat like a pig.  He develoed a bad bronchitis.  Luckily we were able to get anibiotics over the counter from a pharmacist.  His doctor had neglected to send him off with antibiotics.
End of story, the bronchitis cleared up and even tho I persuaded him to wear a mask on the plane coming home, he didnt because he said he would have been the only one wearing one. He didnt want to call attention to himself. No problems with customs or anything.
So far we are both ok.  Big sign of relief.  AND I painted his bedroom while he was away.  I really enjoyed the peace and quiet.

Kurt has been studying German for 5 years at least here in Philadelphia at the German Institute.  It was his approach to filling time after he went on disability.  He traveled to Germany once with his class but wanted to actually spend time in Berlin.
He did very well in his programme...as he had so many years of study under his belt. He was not trying to get a diploma or whatever, as it was not his goal to do that.  However there were both oral and written tests at the end of the class.
I cant tell you how important this trip was to Kurt.

Thanks

Hey Joel, I'm glad Kurt was able to get the meds he needed and was able to enjoy his trip. Thanks for the update! I've been wondering how it turned out.

That's great Kurt was able to do that, Joel.  And you painted his room, aye?  You all must really be in love.  Either that or he gave you a lot of mula. :P

I had to let light into Kurts room in order to paint.  He keeps it so dark you cant see that its daylight  outside even.  I call it his bear cave.  So, since I had to take down all the shades and drapes so I could see to work, it was best to do this while he was away.  Also some of the Paint odors were pretty strong, so best done while he was away.
I did let him choose the color.  Naturally since he likes blue, its blue.

No, I'd charge you a lot to come do your room. lol
