Title: couple questions about Atripla
Post by: MiniPozToyota on July 15, 2012, 10:22:17 pm
Ive been on Atripla since july 11, 2011 anyways I have a couple of questions if someone will PM me or respond back in this post would be awesome. I have a new job now and there are different shifts i.e day, evening, night. I take my pill every night at 10pm and I might be going on night shift witch the hours are 4pm to 1am, should I fight do stay on day shift or should I back my meds up to take around midnight, I would leave it the same time (10pm) but sometimes when I take it at 10pm I have side effects such as feeling really drunk (but I normal eat right before I take my pill like snacks throughout the night. My question is what would you guys do?

Another question I've been wondering about say I eat something that makes me sick around the same time I take my pill and I have to throw up, would this effect the meds going into my system say like 1hr or 30mins after taking my pill? Im always sketchy about not to get sick after I take my pill lol but taco bell sometimes have horrible food haha, also eating a salad with dressing 30mins before your pill will it cause you to get dizzy?

one more question is it fine to store one pill (atripla) in my wallet in a little baggy just in case im not home when I have to take my med? Does my wallet get to hot, humid to carry a pill like this?

Thanks I know this is a lot of strange questions but Im curious about what you think.

Why don't you just take your pill when you get home after 1am?  Just take it before you go to bed (whether that is 11pm or 1am).  You do not have to take it at exactly the same time every day.

Maybe instead of thinking about it as the same TIME, think of it as the same EVENT.

I alternated working days and nights for 6 months a couple of years ago.  It worked best for me to take my Atripla before bedtime, whenever that was.  I didn't experience any CD4 or VL blips while I was doing this.

Not at all.  Just take it before you go to bed, whenever that is.  Atripla has a very long half life and is very flexible with timing.  You can simply take it before you go to bed, whenever that is.  If you ever travel across the country (or across the world) and experience a big time change....just take it before you go to bed.  You will be fine.

Like most aspects of HIV life, medical adherence is not a binary situation.

If you take your Atripla with food or with food in your belly, you're going to increase your side effects.

You're supposed to take Atripla on an empty stomach, and ideally just before you go to bed. It's the Sustiva portion of Atripla that has this lack of food requirement - and it's simply due to the side effect issue.

Go easy on yourself and stop taking your Atripla with food.

Ok thanks for the reply's so just to get it straight... as long as I take my meds before I go to bed its ok, sometimes I feel like going to sleep earlier but I always stay up till 10pm to take meds ahhhh
