Another recent HIV storyline in the UK.
« on: February 19, 2007, 03:36:07 pm »
Just heard about it and have been looking into it a bit.  Basically there is a trashy soap show over here called Hollyoaks it's very much aimed towards teenagers and students that sort of age group.  There is a HIV storyline running at the moment I won't go into detail but basically it's another missed opportunity as I think the woman involved comes out negative.  The only difference this time is its a more realistic transmission via unprotected sex.  If you go to the website below there are some advance previews take a look at the thursday one.  Ignore the bad choice of advert at the start and the bit you are interested in comes towards the end of the clip.

The character involved is sitting in a waiting room and she is going through some of the thought processes i'm sure some people go through and I think in a way it does actually help with the stigma.  Some of the things she is saying are quite harsh though so I hope at some point later on in the storyline some of the inaccuracy's are corrected.  There is a forum as well so i've posted a direct link to this thread so they can come over and comment...........JOKE!

I started watching this show after I caught an episode of two of the guys starting to like each other or coming out of the closet.  I usually can't keep up with it cause I really don't have much time for the tele, but I do catch some reruns on saturdays or sundays.  I haven't heard about the HIV bit though.
