Am I Infected
« on: October 19, 2012, 08:34:48 pm »
Hi
I am a male and I had protected sex with a commercial sex worker on the 15th September this year. However my condom slipped up halfway during vaginal intercourse.
It was like a loose glove halfway up a hand. I pulled it down and again had vaginal intercourse and probably the condom was halfway up all the time. after the intercourse i found the condom had slipped up again ( I am uncircumsized and the condom base was much below the foreskin opening and covering the head of my penis). we changed condoms and resumed intercourse. After the session I took a shower. I wasnt much worried till next day i just checked the net for hiv risks of condom slips and have been really scared since.
Also I have some delicate skin/rashes near my crotch thigh joint and am afraid this area came in contact with her vaginal fluid. two weeks from exposure I had a boil in that area which subsided later and formed a small hard knot below the skin. I had an NAT test done after 23 days from exposure (Procleix Ultrio Plus Assay using TMA and HPA) and the results were Non Reactive.
The doctor told me this test is used for screening blood donations and tests for only HIV1 strain and I have to retest after three months with a standard antibody test. I also had a sore throat since July which hasnt subsided yet and am taking medication for this. Does this increase the risks of infection or affect testing?
This is my 5th week of exposure and am very worried. I need to get tested before 29th November because i will get married then. Please advise if there are any other tests which can give conclusive results.

As long as the head of your penis was covered you were protected.

ps,

You haven't had a risk and therefore you do not need further testing. You do not have hiv.

As Rodney mentioned, as long as the head of your penis was covered, you were protected against hiv infection. Getting vaginal fluids on your rash was not a risk either.

You haven't had a risk and you do not have hiv.

Thanks Ann, Rodney
I could sleep better after reading your replies
There was this thing that I forgot to mention. The sex worker also applied some transparent liquid from a white tube on my genitals after the condom slip off. Am not sure if it was a spermicide. Assuming it was a spermicide is there a danger that this can can cause rashes, small cuts making it possible for the virus to pass through. After the session the skin on my genitals was warm and red and I dont know if it was the liquid.
