Blitz,

For a start, it's not an "aids test", it's an hiv test. And you don't need one.

The only time this sort of thing would be a risk is in a scenario something like this:

You come across a car accident and want to help. You're trying to help the person in the car, who is bleeding heavily. You cut yourself DEEPLY in the process of trying to help and you then get large amounts of his blood into your fresh, DEEP cut.

The fact that you got sick a couple weeks later is totally just a coincidence.

Here's what you need to know in order to remain hiv negative:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST OVER THIS INCIDENT, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

When you begin to be sexually active, you should start having sexual health check-ups at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Blitz,

ALL of the hiv risk assessments in this forum are given with the assumption that the other person is hiv positive.

Hiv is simply not transmitted in the way you're worried about. It is a very fragile virus. Once outside the human body, small changes in temperature and pH and moisture levels all quickly damage the virus and render it unable to infect.

Hiv can only infect a very few, very specific types of cells. These cells are not found on the surface of the skin - or lips, for that matter. They are also not found in shallow cuts or cuts that have not just that moment happened.

You are seriously worrying over nothing.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE!!!

blitz,

You got sick because you came across some illness. It happens. The illness that SOME people (not all) experience when they've been infected with hiv does not come and go like yours did.

What we can say with certainty is that whatever bug cause you to feel unwell, it wasn't a bug called hiv because you did NOT have a risk for hiv infection.

If you continue to feel unwell, see your doctor. Whatever is going on has NOTHING to do with hiv.

Blitz,

Thank you for returning to your thread.

You cannot catch HIV from getting blood in your mouth or on your hands - even if there are cuts on your fingers. HIV is spread in very specific ways, which you can learn about if you read our Welcome Thread and follow the links to our Lessons on transmission.

Whatever made you feel ill, it wasn't HIV. You were not at risk of infection and you do not need to be tested.

Blitz,

So go test and collect your negative result.

You have NOT had a risk.

If you read the Welcome Thread before posting like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote

Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Please consider yourself warned!

Once again you are worrying needlessly. The real risks for HIV transmission have been thoroughly explained to you in the past. You need to apply that information as you go forward in your life. HIV is a fragile virus and is absolutely NOT transmitted in the manner of your latest concern.

There is no need to worry or to get tested. If you have symptoms that are bothering you that is something to discuss with your doctor.

Keep it simple and follow the guidelines which Ann and others have already explained to you.

Symptoms:
Low grade fever that lasted a month,
Diarhea that lasted for over a month.
Thrush (didn't even know I had that one until the doc told me)

I tested positive and was told that I had full blown AIDS.

I don't think I noticed anything back when I seroconverted.

I see that Philly has quoted the relevant information. This is sacred ground. It is meant for positive people only. And Lobodog, with a scant eight posts behind you, I highly recommend the lessons section and the rules of the forums. They do vary a little form thread to thread, but this is NOT the place for worried wells to trawl for symptoms.

Blitz has posted here for some time, with worries about HIV from a friend rubbing his nose after he popped a zit and the like. We keep him and his ilk contained in the AM I forum because, as much as this is an informational forum, it is a support forum first. We created a WHOLE FORUM for people who are not infected with HIV to ask questions, along with a lengthy lessons and transmission section. If we were to allow everyone who has had a lap dance or eaten food they suspect an HIV positive person has touched, it would fall upon itself.

In time, you will understand why.

I have reported Blitz's comment here to the moderators, who will dispatch it shortly.

I read his posts, yeah the liklyhood of him being infected from what he said are almost nill. What if he is not being honest though. At 14 I was already tramping around town. It was a different time, but I don't know if I would have admitted it even on the internet.

I've never been one to follow the rules when I thought they were fucked up. There isn't so much traffice on this message board that we can't answer a question or 2 from a teenager. Part of living with this fucking disease means interacting with society. I would prefer that society and the next generation be as educated as possible. Answering the politely worded questions posed by a teen is the least we could do towards that end.

This is not about encouraging someone to take the HIV test. Goddess knows that this poster, as most posters in AM I do that. Over and over and over. And when they are reliably, assuredly HIV negative, they decide that someone spilled blood in their food, or swatted a mosquito filled with HIV blood on them.

Dude, this is why we HAVE different forums. PLEASE learn the lay of the land here. It is set up to keep this place from becoming a complete shitstorm - and even then, with only moderate to gently high success

Lobo, we encourage EVERY sexually active person who posts in AM I INFECTED to get a complete STD panel, including an HIV test, at least twice a year. We DO NOT allow uninfected persons, as a whole, to post in LIVING WITH.

Blitzboy,

I have merged the two threads you started in forums you should not have been posting in and merged them together with your original thread, which is the ONLY place on these forums you should post. Technically, you should not be posting anywhere on these forums as you are only thirteen.

If I ever catch you posting outside your own thread again, you will be permanently banned.
