Welcome to Do I Have HIV?

Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

testing

On march 12 i gave unprotected oral to a transexual prostitute of unkown status.  No ejaculation and dont know if there was precum.  I am married with kids and still freaking out.  I had negative oraquick swabs at 4.5, 6.5 and 8.5 weeks.   Last week at 11 weeks 4 days i had a clearview rapid blood.  All negative.  How good are the rapid tests?  Am i in the clear on testing and ok to have unprotected sex with my wife?  I know i am just short of 3 months.  If i have an oraquick today will it be 100% reliable?  Thank you and i appreciate it.

Paranoid,

It's no surprise you tested negative - you didn't really have a risk. Not only is saliva not infectious, but it also contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect.

You do not need further testing. You do not have hiv.

Thank you Ann.  You and those on this forum are doing fantastic work and have hlped keep me sane during this time.  Sounds like i did not even need to test in the first place.

What you need to keep in mind for the future is that the only confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse.

As long as you consistently and properly use condoms for those activities you will be well protected.

Sorry but i am back.  My wife is sick with stomach issues and fatigue three weeks after last intercourse.  Of course my fears came back.  Since my last post, i felt the need to test again.  At 18.5 weeks and 26 weeks.  Still negative!!!!  Clearview stat pac and complete were used.  Physiologically, do i need a lab based test or are these rapids conclusive and equally accurate?  Psychologically, i probably nedd some help.  Thank you everyone.

Paranoid,

You were already told that your test at eleven weeks, four days was conclusive. You do not have hiv. If you or your wife feel unwell, see a doctor. It has nothing to do with a virus you do not have.

You do NOT have hiv!!!!
