American tourist in Colombia

Hello All,

I plan to visit Colombia in the near future and wanted to know if anyone out there has had any difficulty entering the county and if you have had to disclose your status to the local authorities.
I have read on the Columbian embassy's website that requires HIV people to fill out a waiver and inform Colombian authorities on your status.  I find it a bit hard to swallow, but its there.  I wanted to know peoples encounter and if anyone can give me some advice.  Thanks.

I believe that this only applies if you intend to stay for a long while in the country.  I travelled there once last year (to the maahvelous Cartagena and super-chic Bogota) and didn't encounter any issue, need for disclosure, or questions about the meds that I carried.

Me too would like to visit Colombia (so many nice last minute packages to San Andres island from Munich) but their HIV regulations put me off.  ???

Hi guys:

No problem at all coming here. I know there are restrictions for living in the country, but not for tourists. Plus, entry checks are waaaaayyy more concerned about terrorism than any other thing. Just bring a doctors order stating the names of your medicines and that is all.

Started HAART: Combivir+Efavirenz Aug 26 7:38 pm
Feb 08 2007 - Gradually stopping HAART cause of Myalgia. Protecting Efavirenz. Stopped Efavirenz, ahead with Combivir....
February 17 Combivir stopped.
April 3 -07 : Started ddi+3tc+efavirenz...
