Glee Star Found Dead
« on: July 14, 2013, 04:19:23 am »
I know the Glee fans are very intense.  This will come as a huge loss to them.  I caught him in a few interviews and found him nice.  Well, attractive, too.  I don't watch the show, so my Glee friends tell me he has battled addiction issues.  Sad.  But, unfortunately something that happens to many every day.

Instead of just making this about a celebrity, I'm curious how many have lost loved ones to addiction?  I have.  While one friend now isn't an addict like we normally view the disease, he will mix his anxiety, pain, and other medications with alcohol.  I've found him passed out on the toilet.  It is odd to hear someone snoring and pissing at the same time.  I keep telling him he needs to space meds out, but especially with alcohol.  His mom has been concerned.  We tried to wake him in bed and he would not wake up.  He seemed to be breathing fine and all that, but he could not be wakened.  Well, I finally began slapping him and he finally murmured to leave him alone.

Ted, it sounds like you've already decided his death was due to an overdose - but the autopsy won't even happen until Monday. Maybe he died of something totally unrelated to drugs.

The autopsy results were just released.  Heroin arrests have increased 1,000% here in Louisville.  Police blame pain pills becoming harder to get as the reason.

On a side note, I'm curious how these came back so quickly, but with Michael Jackson and Anna Nicole, it took weeks and over a month to get results.  Just curious why.

I don't know all the details regarding his drug use, but from what I've read he seemed to be sober for some time.  Sadly, this may have contributed to his death.  The amount of heroin he used might have been nothing to him in the past, but after being clean for a while that same hit can be lethal.  This is how many heroin users overdose.  It's sad..  I've watched this show with the wife a few times.

As usual, the Westboro Baptist Church has been really classy about all this:

(for those who can't access the link)

They've praised and celebrated the "fag enabler's" death and hope Lea Michele kills herself so that they can have a wedding in hell. Also plan to picket.

That is exactly what the LCAS counselors in my office think happened.

I heard that the results were "rushed..."  and I'm guessing that's something that's possible in Canada but not in the US. Or may not feasible. Or maybe not profitable. Or maybe we just don't trust anything that doesn't take a jillion hoops to jump through or miles of red tape to wade through.

Instead of just making this about a celebrity, I'm curious how many have lost loved ones to addiction?  I have.

I'm not sure how your go about testing from a dead body, I'm pretty sure you don't just draw some blood.  However, I do know that once you have a sample to test -- it takes like 4 mins, max, to get an alcohol result.  I've never tested for heroin, but I suspect that this isn't all that time consuming either.  Other, less common drugs, may require more time, but not days.  I suspect the timing in cases like Michael Jackson, had a lot more to do with the legal implications, like chain of custody and other documentation - not too mention lawyers wanting to scrutinize results and protocols before results were released.
