Genvoya and High Triglycerides
« on: May 19, 2022, 11:59:42 am »
So I am back to being an active guy, I try to eat well I don't drink a lot but during the weekend I enjoy a couple of drinks with friends. During the Pandemic, I lost control drank more than usual, gained weight, and got so depressed that exercise was not an option. I am back to exercising now and eating well. I went from 206 to 194 in three weeks.

The problem is that my triglycerides on 04/20/2021 were 163, now I just got tested and it is 217 and I am freaking out.

Is it possible that this could be a side effect of Genvoya?

If so are there other meds that do not have that as a side effect?

Glad to hear you are starting to get back to a healthier lifestyle, I think plenty of people including myself let their lifestyle become somewhat more unhealthy during the pandemic.

Since the end of Feb I have managed to lose 5 kg though (11 lbs)

You have been on Genvoya since 2017 right? If it was me, I would give it another while and retest to see if the Triglycerides go back down again before thinking about ART issues.

What did your healthcare provider say?

I am seeing him on the 23rd, Monday, he is a new doctor for me. I just usually try to do everything holistically first, so I am back to the gym, I walk 4 miles every day and I started to take fish oil. I call it my Daddy Project. LOL

Glad you are on your way to a better you as well. Good job!

BTW the older TDF (Truvada) that you used to take vs TAF that's in your current combination tended to be protective in this area and lower levels of blood lipids, including cholesterol and triglycerides.

Sometimes I get more information here than in any doctor's office I sadly have to say that. I am going to devour those articles.

I will keep you updated on the success/failure of the Daddy project.
Thanks for your never-ending dedication to this channel.
