Aidsmed Living with HIV - The Movie!
« on: September 07, 2006, 01:57:42 am »
This forum is really special. As close to a cyber family that I’ve ever seen, a real family. The day to day postings and advice, sorrows and gains are real here. I was thinking it would be a first, and interesting to make a docu or movie based on the lives from posts on a forum, this forum. I wonder if HBO would give a grant for someone to try it. It would be a first.

And another thought…
I feel a real connection with people that also came aboard about the same time as I did. Now when I log in it seems there are so many new names and visitors that are going thru all the same we went thru when we first popped in. They ask the same questions, have the same worries and the same hopeful outlook. But I still am drawn to the postings from the folks that came aboard around the same time as I did. Like going into a room of people for the first time, you connect with them. Then as new folks come along, you welcome them but still feel more of a connection with the original family you discovered.
I wonder if the new comers to the forum feel this way?

Just the sustiva acting up I guess…

Randy,

As a fairly "newcomer", I can say that I feel my connections beginning with other people, and of course, the comfort of those I already knew.

It's human nature to always go to the comfort of the known, rather than the uncertainties of the unknown.  Not to say anything bad against those I don't know, it just means I'm a terribly shy person and have been dealt a shitty hand at times.  So, I'm gun-shy when it comes to opening up at times.

I'm the same at parties... I get terribly uncomfortable in a room full of people I don't know, so I tend to stay with the comfort of the ones I know.
