Objective
Last year, we came together to create a symbol of unity in the form of a t-shirt. This year, we hope to do the same and create another. This is an open call to everyone on the forums to grab your color palettes, in whatever form, and submit your design for this years T-Shirt. Please post ONLY your design below. A seperate thread for descussion has been reserved at http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=8375.0 (http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=8375.0) Final day for submission is April 30, 2007.

Design Guidelines
Vector format is preferred. However, all formats are eligible to be submitted (paintings, graphics, etc.). Please limit your designs to 3 - 4 colors. There should be no fading or bleeding of colors.

Judging
Judging will occur during the first couple of weeks of May. The fine people at Nightsweats and T-Cells have agreed to judge this years contest. Nightsweats & T-cells is a full service screenprint and design shop owned and operated by persons living with HIV/AIDS. Every penny of profit from sales of their products, as well as this years t-shirts, goest directly into the hands of persons living with HIV/AIDS in the form of a paycheck. Prizes
1st Place - The winner will have have their design proudly displayed on this years AMG07 t-shirt, which will be proudly worn by this years participants while touring the streets of San Francisco. AMG07 t-shirt

3rd Place - AMG07 t-shirt

Betcha thought there was going to be a design submission didn't ya? NOPE! Not from me. I've got NO artistic talent whatsoever.

I just hope that this project doesn't die. I loved the t-shirt last year and it also raised some money for the Grants Committee. So I'd encourage everyone who has already indicated they were thinking of putting something together, John, Jan, Ann, Dingo, and BeefBud. to not be shy. In addition, surely these forums have got a lot of talented individuals who could help with design ideas too.

Just two weeks till the deadline--so let's see those ideas folks!

Post by: Jody on April 16, 2007, 07:48:55 pm: I have NO artistic talent but I thought of a design that includes the Golden Gate Bridge, perhaps the greatest symbol of San Francisco with a candle behind it as a bridge represents a crossing of course, and the candle is such a major symbol of living with HIV.

Not a candle, but the sun (which is bright, too). Some people moving, leaping, progressing in the same direction. And the bridge of course, as was wished for. Three colours: red, yellow and black. This picture was made with Photoshop CS, so it might need vectorization but I'm not a pro and I don't know how to achieve this. Same with bleeding colours: There might be some at the edges. The PSD file is much bigger and available, in case someone wants or needs to work with it. The font used is a free font called Stone Sans ITC TT, but ordinary Tahoma gives you a similar result. Hope you like it! :D

I think your design is great, it would be nice if we could keep the AMG logo going on our T-shirts.

Just one thing, last year was our "circle of light" and this year it will be held in the memorial gardens, is there any chance we could replace the Flame for a simple flower, as I said the AMG logo is perfect I just though a little something different that would fit in with our surroundings would be nice....what do you think?

Originally, the designs were going to be submitted to Nightsweats for them to decide the best design. I thought this was a good decision and would prevent and sense of favoritism. However, I'm re-thinking this.

So...I'd like the groups feedback regarding this. Should Nightsweats decide this years design or should there be a group vote here within the forums? Regardless, those who submitted a design will receive a free t-shirt.

I'd also like to request assistance with handeling t-shirt orders. This would entail tracking the number and size of t-shirts ordered per member along with collecting monies, possibly via a paypal account. If anyone is interested please pm me or post below.

Personally, I think Nightsweats is the way to go.

We've been given 3 great choices, each with it's own unique qualities. Whatever design ends up on the shirt isn't as important to me as the message it sends.

For me that message is: we aren't going to San Francisco as a group of strangers. We are going as a group of HIV+ individuals who have come together in these forums and attempted to provide support and courage for one another.

Don't matter age, don't matter gender, don't matter much of anything. We are who we are. We are HIV + and this year we are gathering in San Francisco.

What I would suggest to the voting is submitting for BOTH a vote here and a vote by the printer.

Then having a final vote here to determine the winner.

This would allow the printer input into what they think is a good design and why and also possibly present technical difficulties in certain designs as not being suitable for printing.

It would also allow those here to vote for the one the like best.

Then either the design can be adjusted to meet the printing requirement or another can be chosen.

Thank God you put it doesn't matter what "gender" cause that is a difficult problem for me to deal with. Decisions, decisions. Damn pills sometimes I have problem deciding. ;)
