Gas Anyone???
« on: December 16, 2006, 06:40:23 pm »
OK, I'm not the bashful type, as many have probably determined around here.  However, I have a rather odd question.  Does anyone have problems like I do with gas?  Do you think it is a part of the drug cocktail I take?  I am not one for holding it in either, so I've learned to just put my hand up "in the stop traffic mode" and say to coworkers, yeah, you heard me, "Do not come any closer because I've let something out that could rival the devastation in Hiroshima" (no disrespect meant).  I eat a well balanced diet (always have) but I swear my gas REALLY stinks...I mean embarrassingly so.

Am I alone in this or does anyone wish to join the ranks of stinky dinky and free yourself from the shame of HIV-meds(?) gas?

Brooks

P.S.  I'll probably get leather seats in my next car too....whewwweee  :o

Hey Brooks...

Gas? No, not I with that situation. In fact, it is a rare case for me. However, I did read of some who have experienced the same Gas effect. You are not alone.

Good.  I thought I was the only one who experienced the "big bang" effect.  And I'm being completely serious here  :o

I am a founding member of the stinky dinky corp!  But not sure it's due to my medications, although it could be and I have been able to drop a couple recently that might have been the culprits and things have gotten better.

Unlike you, my diet, so far has not always been the best but until I spent some time in the hospital recently when I was getting all kinds of meds etc by the liter, I did pretty good at not gassing friends, neighbors and co-workers, my dog etc.  Then something I was getting there really lit the stinky dinky fires and I was  a gas bomb with the worst odor ever known.  As usual after you stay in a hospital for any length of time you lose all dignity and don't worry about that stuff so I just started to let er rip and not worry about the fact that the poor staff and had to contend with it.  Helped that I had a room all to myself or they might have kicked me out early!

So my vote is for the medications, not the chili with beans I had last night....therefore it is a medical condition and I am not responsible! Now I just wear a t-shirt with a beware gas leak sign on it when in public.  Course the dog still suffers.

Who else wants to join the ranks?

My middle name is Flatulence.

As a life-long coffee drinker I and gas are like old friends who finish each other's... uh, sentences.  Luckily my farts are usually odorless unless I've been eating cabbage, broccoli, legumes, or asparagus (and sometimes onions).

Since initiating HAART I haven't noticed a change in gaseous output but I take only Trizivir (i.e., a combo of AZT, 3TC, and abacavir) twice a day, at 9:30AM and 9:30PM.  Usually by 9:30AM I've had one or two cups of coffee.

Aren't you glad I shared?

Gas?  Oh yeah!  I can pretty much run myself out of a room it's so bad at times.  Other times, it's kinda funny.  I'm not sure if it as anything to to with the Septra, but I imagine it's something in the Atripla.  What drug combination are you on Brooks?

Lighting 'em is always good for a laugh.  The benefit is that they don't stink when they burn and it looks cool, too.   ;)

I can't say as the Atripla has made me any more gassy than I already am.

Which is kind of disappointing... my roommate and I have a sort of "I like to poop" sense of humor at the best of times, and the amusement that would be caused by such a side effect would be unlimited.

Some people have all the luck.   ::)

Oh Yeah! I could peel the paint off a wall at forty paces. Unfortuately I'm not kidding. When I first started meds my dog would wake me up in the middle of the night staring at me after I cut one and then just glare at me until the smell hit me and he got out of a warm bed to go lay down on the cold floor on the other side of the house! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

I take reyataz, norvir, truvvada & epzicom. I don't know which one causes it but between the fumes and the "runs" it can be fun at times!!!!

I'm so glad that you all want to share...your stinky dinky stories...and I do think it's because of the meds.  I am on Sustiva (aka Sustevil) and Viread.  I do have a bad edamame habit as well  :D  David, I will try to make more of an effort to set my ass on fire, though I'll have to buy a lighter.  I didn't think those stories were true, but apparently so, huh?

Yeah, definitely the meds...and Eldon, let me live a little dangerously!  My ass doesn't usually get much action around here anyway  ;D

Have you ever smelled cat fart?  Seriously, dog farts are like sunshine, lollipops and rainbows compared to the sheer olfactory horror one can experience after kitty witty Fluffy lets one rip.

Let's all be glad that we can still fart...some of the asses I've seen were not even tight enough to make even a low sounding "BLUPPPPERRR"

Stay on track, folks.  It you think it's the meds, at least say so, and make me feel better  ;D

Yes.  And I am also on Sustiva.  It doesn't happen, fortunately, at work.  It can happen when I think a sour thought and get the reply.  Or for no reason at all, when I am out walking the dog and relaxing my system.  Win

You know, I've never tried it bare-assed... maybe that's a good thing.  The secret is to have enough pressure behind the gas so that the flame stays back a few inches...   ;)

Ahhh Queen,

Another thing to look forward to when you decide to get on meds.  Please keep me posted, sweetie (stinky)  ;)

P.S.  I'll probably get leather seats in my next car too....whewwweee  :o
