I always wonder whether these kind of prints/ads/captions are real, or whether computer generated by someone in their mom's basement.  When I zoomed in, that logo was too blurry for me to see what organization it was suppose to be. 

I would think it must be a fake.  I can't imagine a school or organization putting up a billboard like that.  I'm not sure what one has to do with the other.  I mean, you could put yourself at risk for HIV, but still be a straight A student.

I zoomed in too but couldn't make out the logo. However, since "google is my friend" , I did a search. There are several of these billboards pictured online. There all seem to be in African nations, and most seem connected to institutions of learning.

The more I've thought about the text itself, the less "offensive" I have thought it to be. It's really nothing more than telling a teenager in America to use protection and not get knocked up before graduating.  When you consider the cultural implications and the lack of medications for HIV in some areas of Africa, it seems rather wise to try to encourage young people to graduate, rather than end up with what might very well be for them still a terminal illness because of having no access to treatment. In regions with a high rate of HIV infection and/or a low graduation rate, this might be an ideal message to get across.

I've always believed that it takes all kinds of messages to get through to as many people as possible. Sometimes it's the soft sell on safe sex, sometimes its the hard sell with graphic images of the results of AIDS. Considering the situation and circumstances, this seems like a pretty viable on-campus campaign for these locations.

Good point Mikey.  I could see in hard hit areas how this message may be very appropriate and needed.

I have to agree with Michael on this one.  There are times when a radical/shocking message is the only one that's effective.
